C.C.D.V.’s 60th Anniversary Gala
What can I say? If you missed it, YOU MISSED IT!!
Our 60th Anniversary Gala back on October 20, 2018 was what I consider one of the greatest CCDV events at least in my 42 years of membership. The Planning Committee did a sensational job of making sure every detail was just perfect and it showed.
Everyone & I mean EVERYONE stated they had a great time & praised the event. From the cordial welcoming, the fantastic photo display and placement of EVERY Cavalcade poster – PLUS the great varied hot & cold hors-d’oeuvres, the scrumptious dinners and numerous desserts, everyone said their food was delicious.
The speaker, Gary Cockriel, who travelled up from the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, KY, was enjoyable, informative and entertaining. Hearing some of the museum’s history from someone who’s been there from the start, was interesting & inspiring – especially since virtually it is OUR museum (as Corvette owners & supporters).
The DJ constantly played tunes from the 60’s, 70’s & 80’s and you couldn’t help but to at least tap your feet to the beat or boogie down on the dance floor which constantly had a good crowd. The part I liked best was watching Denny Matlack putting down some super moves. I’m 1000% sure HE had a great time & I understand he’s next performing on Dancing with the Stars.
The Marriage Game couples gave everyone lots of laughs. I just hope they didn’t wind up in divorce court. As the evening drew to an end, it seemed that everyone had fun plus full stomachs and smiles on their faces – at least until we left and were surprised by the pouring rain.
Otherwise, it was an overwhelming successful event and now I can’t wait for our 70TH.
Joel
