C7 1st Year "Bugs"

In anticipation of getting a C7 , I've been tracking the posts on the corvette forum concerning issues some new owners are experiencing.

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c7-g...ns-thread.html

Does the C7 appear to have more "teething" problems than either the C5 or C6 ?

One the first page, One guy complained that his C7 with only 210 miles on it picked up a wheel balancing weight on the road (that he ran over) and it punctured his tire and he had to buy a new tire.

Really?

Richy,

My 05 was under 6000 production number and had a bunch of problems, brake pads, wiring harness, roof, roof, roof, roof, crank pulley, etc. I have been watching the C7's and have looked at several in person. I don't think they are having an more teething problems than any other 1st year Corvette series. I have to say I have noticed some fit and finish issues that I believe GM will iron out as time goes on.

Of course waiting a bit will also give you time to see what additional models, Z07. ZR1, Grand Sport they come up with.

Another guy was surprised when he felt the right rear wheel kind of hoping or dragging on a tight left turn. He had even ordered the electric LSD. Wonder why he ordered it.
A lot of them need to read the owners manual too.

It is not a wise move to purchase any 1st year production auto. Best to wait, if possible, until the 3rd year or later.

One has to wonder why how the factory can get full MSRP without discounting in the first year of production. Especially, when it's a known fact not to buy any product in it's first full year of production until the manufacturer can iron all of the bugs out of it. Unless all of the robotics and factory tooling and automation is that much more spot on, it's tough to justify buying in year one, unless you want that prestige of the first guy on your block to own one.

Why is anyone surprised by a new car having some glitches? It always happens but the key is to minimize them and to fix them. I'm sure that all these mostly electronic problems will be fixed. Plus I think many of them are really BS.

Folks;
Quick update-Now with 600 mi on my C7, all is Perfect, to include the paint! Have examined very closely,& trust me, & minimal orange peel. In fact, the hood, & doors looks as though GM reinvented glass! By the way, over the past few months, I've been on the Corvette forum several times a day, & although I view some comments by disappointed buyers, they in my view, are in the vast minority. Love the Car!! Vin 4007

The car is beautiful, Most guys that can $$$ one will upgrade to a Z07? down the road or the next version of the BASE C7 in 2 yrs.

IMO the C7 is one of the nicest looking cars ever to come out of GM
I would LOVE to have C7 Coupe White/Black Wheels

I'm 3 weeks and 800 miles into my new C7 Z51 3LT and read all those blogs too. I'm happy to report that so far my C7 is flawless and I am #4270 off the line.

I traded in an 05 convertible for a 14 convertible. Only problem so far - the carpet partition between the trunk and top area comes undone - and the top wont work if both clips arent engaged. I fixed it with Velcro awaiting a trip to the dealer so they can fix it at the first oil change.
Other than that flawless, and I am so happy I traded my C6(which I loved)
