Our vette is going to auction

If you're interested .... our 2003 50th Anniversary is going to be at a salvage auction in Syracuse this Thursday. It was totaled when it slipped off of a lift in a repair shop. No more vette .

Sorry to hear that. I didn't know a Vette was that slippery. How does a Vette <slip> off a lift?

Now for the rest of the story ..... vette was taken to shop with a bad fuel pump. We were home in PA for the weekend when we got a call from the shop. By the way the shop ownner is the Vice President of the NNYCC (Northern New York Corvette Club) .. his wife if the President. It seems sometime over the weekend the lift dropped and the car slid, there was a floor jack under it which caused it to jack up on the rear end and twist on the lift. The car ended up on the driver's side nose. We had to get our insurance company (Erie) involved when their insurance adjuster saw miminal damage (they did leave it open for hidden damage). Erie's adjuster totaled the car after seeing body lines out of wack, transaxle cracked, front and rear damage, floor pans ripped, etc. They gave us a fair deal for the car. You won't believe this .... the owner .... would not release the car without the bill being paid for the fuel pump (which was installed after the car fell).
We will more than likely wait untill early next year to find our new vette.
Thanks for your concerns, save the wave,

Just a note: We want to thank Frank Schmidt and Dennis (Allan's Colllision) for all their help.

They put a new fuel pump in a totaled car? And they would not release the car until you paid that bill? Am I reading that correctly?
Who needs it released? I wouldn't think you'd need it. It sounds like the shop that let it "slip" off thier lift is the new owner of that car.

Paul & Ginny, Sorry to hear the sad news about your car. They put a fuel pump in it AFTER it slipped off the lift. I guess they thought you would not notice the damage and just drive away. Totally crazy!! Hang in there and hope everything works out.

I can't believe they put a fuel pump in the car after the fact and then had the balls to make you pay that bill.

Just so everyone knows who to stay away from,

Tom Cheney is the owner of Cheney Tire. His email is Tom@CheneyTire.com

CHENEY TIRE
839 State St
Watertown, NY 13601

You'd think the Vice President of a Corvette Club would extend every courtesy to a fellow Corvette owner, especially after he destroyed their car. This boggles the mind.

Paul, maybe you should fill out their on line customer satisfaction survey. http://www.cheneytire.com/custsurvey.htm
