Mike Burke

Bruce Waldron just sent the following message.

It is with great sadness that I tell you that Mike Burke died this morning. Mike was driving to the local WaWa and hit a tree. I will keep you informed about the arrangements.
I know that we all had great hopes for Mike and Maureen and it is important for us to let Maureen know how much she means to us.

So very sorry to hear this horribly sad news.

I am not sure if I know Mike Burke or not, but either way, he, his wife and family are in my prayers.

Mike is the person who appointed me to be Recording Sec. many years ago when he was the President of CCDV. He "made" me become active with the club, and I thank him for that. Mike, Maureen and Nicky were part of my CCDV family who were always there to cheer me and others on. I'll miss Mike and my heart goes out to Nicky and Maureen. "Mo" let me know if you need anything.

Devastating! This is a sad day for me. Mike was always very kind to me and pushed me to get involved. Because of him, I have another family of friends. He will be sorely missed. Our thoughts & prayers go to Maureen, Nicky and family.

Tragic news....
My deepest sympathy to Maureen...

Mike was the FIRST person who when he was President, supported making THIS website...!

Mike ALWAYS supported new ideas for the club, and was a very FAIR & IMPARTIAL President, doing what he thought was BEST for the entire Club membership, putting his own personal beliefs aside..

CCDV has lost an OUTSTANDING member, and we have all lost a great friend..

I am saddened, and will always remember Mike.
As president, he was 100% FULL TIME devoted to CCDV.
He made CCDV work & THRIVE in a difficult time this club was having.

I "know" something "special" that Mike confided in me will hopefully happen at his funeral.
I hope Maureen knows this as well....
I will try to contact her to see if she can fufill Mike's wish..

Please contact me or post funeral info..
Ellis

Ellis you're right, Mike stood tall during a very difficult time for CCDV, he took us from a time that was dark and turned things around. Many of the events we do are because of Mike.... This web site is one of his dreams and the two of you made it happen. As soon as information is available it will be posted. I will drive my vette to any services no matter the weather. Mike wasn't a fair weather president.

Very well said Bill- a good description of the man. Mike was president when Tony and I joined the club. He welcomed us with open arms to all the events. He was a very genuine person and extremely involved in expanding the the clubs PR and image. His personal committments and obligations over the past few years kept him from being as active as he would have liked to have been. I am sorry some of the newer members will not have the opportunity to have shared a dinner run or parade with him.

Mo - if you need anything please give me a call - Rose (215-323-5552)

TQO

As the day goes by and I continue to think about Mike I remember a guy who loved life, always told a joke at the podium and wanted CCDV to be the best Corvette Club in America. During my first full year with the club Mike asked me to be part of the 40th Anniversary party committe. Mike wanted this to be the most special event of our clubs history. We came up with some very creative ideas and a wonderful location(Moonstruck) in Foxchase, Phila. I will never forget how proud Mike was when he showed up at the party and saw what he had inspired. I still believe this was the best event that CCDV ever had with over 125 people in attendance. We had one of the original founders of the club at the event as well as another great club member and corvette guy Chip Miller address the club.

Mike will be missed but not forgotten. And if I know Mike he is probably already discussing C7 design ideas with Chip and the big guy upstairs.

The funniest was when Mike was at the podium and people were talking at the bar and Mike yelled (to longtime member Tim Simmons),
"Hey Tim SIMONS will ya please shut up back there! haha!

To this day I still call Tim, Tim SIMONS!

Joe the same thing here.....I never met a bigger Rolling Stones fan in my life!!!! He went all over the world to see and take pictures of the stones in concert. He even had pictures of the stones that he took in magizines. Every year he would have a Mick Jagger birthday party. He always thought deep down that "Mick might show up some day". Then he'd laugh.

Mike Burke

It's very sad to hear about Mike. He was a great club president and really did a lot to promote the club. I had the pleasure of going to a Stones concert with him and we had a great time.

My condolences go out to Maureen and Nicky. I'd be happy to help with anything that is needed.
