Which gas to use

Finally am ready to join the "family" Just picked up a 2002 Pewter and I am in love
Since I buy mostly Sunoco for my two other cars, am I safe in using Sunoco 93 Ultra? IS any gas over 91 OK to run?

You will hear different things about Sunoco, good and bad.. Because of all I've heard over the years with Sunoco and Corvette sending units, I've stayed away from it. I was never a Sunoco user anyway so it was no big deal.

I have used Hess Premium at just about every fill up for 6 years now in my 02 coupe. Runs fine..... I have used Shell on occasion and I am sure it is good also.

NOW, if we could only get Chevron around here, that's all I would use....

You should hear a few opposing views here on this topic, just stay tuned...

Thanks Glennm27 - I have a Hess station not that far so maybe I'll switch over - always good to have a recommendation from someone who is actually using the product

The thing I like about Chevron is that it has Techron Fuel System Cleaner in it. I just buy my Techron at Walmart and put a can in the tank about every 3000 miles when filling up.

Congrats on the new ride. As for gas all I can tell you is what Steve Spencer said to me "Never ever use Sunoco in your Vette".

You add a pint of Glenlivet every 3rd or 4th tank, don't you?.. When I follow you that car has a distinctive odor to its exhaust.. I've come back after following you for 25 miles feeling a bit tipsy.... plus the car runs strong so whatever you add is working...

I been hearing that using Shell gas is helpful with keeping your engine clean. Dave Peterson gave a talk at last months Gen Meeting a relayed the very same info about Shell.??????????

For extra HP I add a bottle of 18 year old scotch.

Don,

I don't think you're the one that's confused.

I strongly recommend WAWA gas. The low grade blend is best.

That is a Citgo station. ...and I would walk first also before buying Citgo, for many reasons.

Sunoco gas is fine to use, used nothing but 94 Ultra in my 2000's and my Z06's, never had an issue, or even an error code. A supporting dealership of this site is the only one that seems to have an issue with Sunoco gas.

Well,I can testify that I used almost exclusively for 4 years either Mobil,Exxon, or Shell in my 99 Pewter Coupe. Then, someone told me, "Try the Sunoco 94, your car will run great!" So I did. I filled it up, drove to St Michael's MD & back again. Filled it up again & it promptly ATE my tank sending units. I had to take it in & get them both replaced. Plus, a tank of gas went down the drain. I also had to have the injectors cleaned & the fouled plugs replaced. I was told that if I had mixed my gas more it might not have eaten my sending units, put, the dirt is a different issue. Not that it was Sunoco, but, I'll only use that if I have no other choice (like Lukoil, Citco, Wawa or Gulf).

Exclamation

I also had issues while using Sunoco. Changed over to Shell and on the second tank there was a major performance difference. I now only use Shell Z Power.
