INDY 500 2007 Pix

There were 14 of us that attended to 500 this year.Glenn M., Todd S., Jim B. & his Son Devin, Joel & Sue F, Barb & Ang G, Rick & Lisa C, Ed & Shirley B. and Don & Chris T. Six of us drove the others flew. Despite a near disaster on the PA Turnpike between my VW(nobody's injured) and a Doe (now an ex-doe), and the constant threat of lousy weather we still had a great time. It just goes to show you it's who your with that's more important than where you're at. We had passes to Gasoline alley as well as the Driver's meeting in addition the the race. Chevy had a great display as usual at the Fan Fest the day before the race. There was about 50 Ford GTs from all over all parked together, that's someting you don't see often. They all had windshield placards from the Forg GT Forum on them. Our seats were directly in front of AJ Foyts pit, we also had THE Richard Petty infront of us Peyton Manning was up in the crows nest with the flags. Good times check back in about 358 days for the next update.

I had a great time as usual. Nice to have a large group like we had.

Besides our group of 14, Todd and I met up with Mark aka Moose13 and his crew at the track Saturday afternoon. Those boys looked they were havin a great time too in their motorhome/rolling lounge..

Our seats being covered made the rain delay a fun time. We just helped the local Lions Club with donations and they kept rewarding us with beer and hamburgers. By the time they restarted the race we didn't care who was driving what car... We were ALL rooting for Danica upstairs. When she wins this race one of these years (and it WILL be soon) that place will go ballistic.

Let's go Danica

Thumbs up

When Danica was in 2nd for a few laps we were going crazy! She certainly has the speed & ability. Ang, Barb, Sue & I look like drowned rats in the photo of the 4 of us! But we didn't let the rain hold us back from enjoying another great year at Indy!! We had a great time!!

What a blast! My first time at Indy and hopefully won't be my last.

It was great to see fellow CCDVer's all having a great time.

Danica! That lady can drive! I can't wait to see her in the winner circle with milk all over her face.

I have renewed my seats for more years than I care to admit to here.

All I will say is it's OVER 30 years and I've seen alot in those years but NOTHING like the excitement Danica brings to the Speedway.....

In 2005 when she led with 10 laps to go and most people really didn't realize she didn't have a prayer of winning the place was just about to burst. The 400,000+ fans were just going insane.
The cool thing at Indy is just about everyone goes home happy becasue they always love whoever wins...

This year there were well over 400,000 in attendance...
The Indy 500 has finally recovered from the Cart/IndyCar split.

The Indy 500 is a Spectacle that is something that has to be seen to understand the draw.
Even Sue & Joel (who bring the rain with them) had a great time and will probably return after getting rained on the 2 times they have gone.

It's just a magical event.. And if you love racing like I do, well, that's just an added plus.

The people came back, but IMO the racing is not as good as it used to be, take Danica out of it and it's almost boring. The best race I ever saw was when Sullivan did a 360 and still won the race, and the Rick Mears days, well that was some good stuff, it trying to make everything more even, it took a little something away, but maybe seeing over 80 F1 races may have done that too.

I was at the Sullivan Miller High Life Spin & Win, and saw all 4 of Rick Mears wins at Indy...

F1 bores me. I love the technology but the politics is sickening.

F1 is not good at Indy, it would be much better at a made for F1 track, of course Monaco is the worst for racing, but the best for partying.

I liked the mid to late 80s. Andretti Jr & Sr, Unser Jr & Sr, Foyt, Mears, Sullivan, Luyendyke, Guerraro, Rahal, Emerson and off course Sneed complaining every year that the cars are going to fast. The Menard Buick V6s, Chevy & Ford V8s, Pop Off valves, Goodyear tires. Sleezy snake PIT, Hells Angels drunk in the infield. 100,000,000 show me your t&ts signs. NO TONY GEORGE the Anti-Christ. We used to get the same 8 tickets sell four to the legal scalpers and the money would pay for most of the trip. It's still a good time but it will never be as good.

Wink

Glenn:
This was actually our 3rd Indy. We went in '04, '06 & '07. Last year we got cooked by the hot sun! So we're 2 out of 3 for rain and of course the 1st time there was when they had the 12 tornados - one of which touched down in the airport parking lot where the van was parked! I think you left early that year & watched part of the race on tv.

Whoops, I forgot last year. sorry...

We left at the 2nd rain delay that year and headed directly to the airport. (Pat & I had a flight for Sunday evening that year) We were able to get our flight moved up to earlier when the rains came and actually got to see the last 50 laps at home on TV. That was pretty cool.

We saw the start of the race from B Stand Penthouse and the finish later that day at home in Bucks County.

I now get a flight out of town for Monday mornings......

Rick's right about Ike's and Jonsey's. Rick and Lisa have friends 'Rick & Linda' that live in Indianapolis that also own a popular upscale bar/restaurant downtown. When Rick and Lisa told their friends 'Rick & Linda' that they were going to the race this year they invited us to their bar. However there were 14 of us. But no problem they put a bunch of tables together fed us appetizers and snacks all night as well as all the drinks we wanted. And the kicker was they would not accept a penny from us. What a great time. What nice people.
