National Geographic - ultimate factories

Corvette Featured on “Ultimate Factories” Show

Catch the world premiere of National Geographic’s “Ultimate Factories” and watch the complete story of Corvette’s build - Thursday, November 29, at 10 p.m. ET/PT. Starting at the Dana Plant in Hopkinsville, Ky., where the aluminum skeleton, or space frame, is built in just 18 minutes and follow through to Bowling Green, Ky., where the floors, doors, panels and paint are added, as well as the power seats, the dashboard and one distinctive Corvette feature, the classic teardrop rear window.

Footage also includes GM’s Performance Center in Wixom, Michigan where the revolutionary Z06 engine is hand-built like a race-car engine, by one technician in four hours.

My pleasure..they are also covering...

The Ferrari and BMW plants. Looks like all three run one after the other for an hour each.

Have a great Thanksgiving all.

You too Glenn

I have Comcast and it's channel 109 (the national geographic channel). If you have comcast you can check the channel lineup via your zip code online. I don't know what it would be on DirectTV.

Got this from Dave Peterson at Bryner today....
Subject: Chevy Corvette Z06, Bowling Green Assembly Featured In National Geographic Channel Show Nov. 29 at 10 p.m. (ET)

Chevy Corvette Z06, Bowling Green Assembly Featured In National
Geographic Channel Show

GM Internal Communications, November 28, 2007 .... The Chevrolet
Corvette Z06 and Bowling Green (Ky.) Assembly Plant, where the iconic
American sports car is manufactured, will be featured on National
Geographic Channel's popular "Ultimate Factories" series.

The hour-long show about Corvette and Bowling Green Assembly is
scheduled to air in the United States tomorrow night, Nov. 29 at 10
p.m. (ET). Even if you are located outside the United States, you
should check your local listings, as National Geographic airs globally.

The "Ultimate Factories" show about the Corvette is as much about the
people who build the car, as it is about the car. The story unfolds as
workers talk about and demonstrate their passion to produce a
high-quality sports car that has captured car lovers' fancies since
1953.

Thanks Dave!!!! Bill

One of you chiefs should do a e-mail blast 2 hours before the start.

I wouldn't want to miss it. It's a thrill touring that plant.

Notice I called you "chiefs" not wizards even though some of you ARE
computer wizards!! Anyway.....enjoy the show tomorrow!

Bill,

Who told Dave about the show? Notice Moose posted this about a week ago. My Tivo picked it up and set itself to record the show. I guess it knows me too well.

Glenn, can I borrow them when you're done, or just burn me a copy (I'll pay for the disks). We don't get the NG channel. We're slumming it, only paying $95/mo for cable TV and Internet. Without movie channels!

It was sent out by GM to dealers, notice the date at the top. GM Internal Communications, November 28, 2007 .... I posted it as a reminder, not new news. The last post on the show was 11/23 so I wanted to remind folks the show was on today....

I saw the Ferrari plant show earlier this year as Comcast had it available On Demand in their HD section. Was very cool and talked a lot about the technology and developoment of the 599. I thought the coolest part was when the mentioned the high tech suspension system in the Ferrari that uses suspended magnetic particles that can be adjusted electronically and was developed in the US. We all know where that system was developed.

Comcast users, if you have On-Demand available these shows may show up there as well. If you have HD make sure you check the NatGeo HD channel for your recording if you have an HD DVR. I adjusted my recordings a couple nights ago once I found the HD channel.

All 3 shows should be interesting, I intend to make DVD copies of all 3 as well because I know my 4 year old will watch them a million times because he likes to see how things get made.

I actually let quite a few people know about the factory show tonight too (outside of the Corvette world) because they know I've been there multiple times and are curious to see it as well.

I thought Ferrari was the most interesting but ya know....their cars are
250K and up....and ya gotta wait 2 years. At the same time, I was proud of the plant that builds our cars. I've been there three times and the
people down there are incredible. I'm glad they made prime time.
