Personal Best-FINALLY

Hello:
Went to Beaver Springs today, track rental . Met up with Doug B. and a few other Challenge Racers.
The weather was beautiful, 3 hour ride but it was worth. I just had a new Rodney-RPM transmission installed, new clutch disc, new Mcleod brake cylinder and new slave cylinder installed. I needed to test the new set up.
Did I have fun The car ran GREAT. I still need some seat time to get use to the new clutch set-up when I launch, but I ran my all time best . Second time shot out, 11.309 @ 122.86 mph. Then, two time shots later I bested my best, 11.263 @126.77mph.
I felt like a little kid in a candy store.
Finally my shifting was great. All peddle to the metal as I banged the shifts. I need to get my 60' down to the 1.5's again. Practice will get it there. When I do the time should be in the 11 teens or better.
Much thanks to Dale and Chris @ Berrel Auto for all the great work they did on the car. Plus, for being so tolerant of my all my questions.
My face hurts from smiling so much.

Good job Neill Your trans/clutch setup is real smooth, now go after that 10.99 run.

Nice..... I've seen you run 1.5 60's consistantly. If you were not at Beaver Springs and turned in those times above, you may reach that 10.99 like Carls says to shoot for when you get back to your 1.5 60's.

Way to go Neil.

Thats definitely more like it!
A drop of 2000 in DA will net you that 2/10 for sure..

Why did you change trannys?
Were you having problems, or just wanted a "beefed up one"?

As Niel said, I was at Beaver Springs also. What he didn't mention was that he also was able to run with his exaust cut outs open. His car sounded great as he was making his fast runs down the track!

I also had a personal best yesterday. I cut a .003 light. That was fun. Also there was an organized gamblers race towards the end of the rental time. There were 11 cars in the race, and I made it to the final round!( too bad I can't do that in the Challange) Unfortunatly I didn't win, I broke out by .05.

The main reason I went was to work on my reaction times. With 35 runs I think I got some work done. I also went for the fun and I had a blast.

All the racing was done on a pro tree. Man is that different! I think I got the hang of it though. After my first .455 light I got my times down to .098, .074, & .094.

I was a little disapointed in my ET times. The temp. was cool, 67 for the high. Humidty was at 40% and no wind. And the DA was around 1800 ( I think ) for the day. Last Corvette Challenge in August I was running 14.2s. I thought with the weather my ET would improve, but it didn't. I ran 14.4s all day. Beaver Springs is over 500' higher than Englishtown. Would that make any difference?

Dave Romancheck from the Corvette Challenge set the rental up. The staff at Beaver Springs did a great job of prepping the track. And anyone who wanted to could run in the evening racing at no extra charge. I could not pass that up. It was a great day and well worth the three hour trip.

Way to go Doug! Did you get to share any of the Gamblers money?
I don't think 500' would make that much of a difference. What kind of 60' times were you running?

Neil - Way to go! Great runs and shifting good. Sweet. Keep smiling.

Doug without a reading on DA it's very hard to tell if you were where you should be. E-town elevation is 70 ft so at 500 feet with the same weather conditions you would run about .04 slower. I'm very impressed that you were in the 0.0xx range with the pro tree.

I'm very interested in this track rental thing Hope I can make the next one.

Al,
Dave is planning to do this again next year. Also he is going to try and set up a Corvette only race at Beaver Springs. He and the track owner got the idea after see all the interest in the 5 Vettes that particpated in the evening events. Apparently they don't get many Vettes out there.

Finally....

Neil, sounds to me like the car is setup just right, and Finally the driver part has come together. Now just repeat this same performance on the 22nd, Doug keep hitting the tree, I also had my first dose of a Pro Tree this year. Sounds like Beaver is a nice track to run. Keep it going guys.

Thanks guys. Appreciate all the kind words. I still have a long way to go. Hopefully, each time out will be better and better.
The best part is all the great people and friendships made along the way.
