Need Bucks County Builder Recommendation

Not sure if this is the right section to ask this question so Mod's please move if I put in the wrong place.

My mother is moving in with this this year. She is getting older and does not want to take care of the big house in Philly any longer. While my house is fairly large, we feel that she needs her own space. We love our house and the location and don't want to move. We have already hired an architect and would like to begin building an addition this year if possible.

My question is does anyone have a builder that they swear by? I have one builder that comes highly recommended that I will have quote but I'm looking for 2 others that do good work, show up, and have a solid track record in Bucks county.

We live in Holland in a split level and are going to add the addition above the first floor. We're not looking for anything to extravagant but want a quality job by someone who has roots in Bucks County and is willing to provide references for past work.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Be Very careful when hiring a Contractor.
Insist on past work history and references. Also the same goes for the subs he hires.

Oh, I know. I had a garage rebuilt in my old house and I went with a contractor who was clueless. 15k to rebuild a 1 car garage and I swear a blind man would have done a better job. The funny part is he had all good references and I even saw some other jobs that he supposedly did. After all that I still got shafted.

Contractors scare the heck out of me which is why I'm looking for advice from the folks here who might have first hand experience with a builder. One thing I will insist on is a builder who has an office and a track record building in Bucks County. I know that is no guarantee but along with references and previous work I think that is the best I can do.

Thanks for the advice Rick.
Regards,
-Mike

Thumbs up Joseph Vas Bonded Builders

Did you hire a contractor yet? If so, good luck. If not, I would recommend the following contractor:
Joseph Vas Bonded Builders
248 Orchard Dr.
North Wales, PA 19454
215-368-2739

He is very honest and an excellent craftsman. He will not cheapen a job because his reputation is on the line. He is very detailed oriented and cleans up after himself. A very professional guy.

Thought I would share some pictures of the completed project. The actual construction started the second week in June and they were totally done by the second week in September. Almost 90 days exactly.

Before:

After:

Inside:

I must add that we could not have been happier with the builder we selected. We chose a local Holland builder, Munz Construction, and they get straight A's all the way down the line. When things popped up they just handled it and other than a few upgrades we made along the way, they never changed the agreed upon price. They showed up EVERY day at 7:30 AM and where there until 3:30 or later every day. They were neat, pleasant, and highly responsive to all of our needs. Our project manager, Rich was available 24x7 and always responded quickly.

Thanks to everyone who suggested builders. 2 other builders suggested here were engaged. One did Amazing work but was just too busy on another large project. The other was a bit lower in cost but did not have the local reputation that Munz has.

Thanks again guys.
-Mike

Thumbs up

Very nice addition. Does not have the look of an addition, blends in with the original design.
Thanks for the update. Its great to get feedback.

Mike your addition looks great, glad you are pleased with your builder, as I have said many times there are only a few really good builders.

I was very impressed with your builder and the work he had done. It was a matter of availability. He was not going to complete his current project in time to start mine and was very upfront about that.
