Auction of New, Old Cars

A pretty cool story of a mid-western Chevrolet dealership whom closed their doors in 1996 after 50 years in business. The dealership held on to many of their Trade-Ins and also kept many of their unsold new cars at the end of every model year. They (Lambrecht Chevrolet, Pierce, Nebraska) are going to auction off this entire collection September 28 & 29, 2013 in Pierce, NE. There are approx 50 cars dating back into the 50's, 60's & 70's with 11 miles or less on their odometers.

A fellow I have breakfast with at the diner was thinking of going. If he does, I may go also. I doubt I could afford anything there but you never know.

I'm sure there are going to be some collectors with Very Deep Pockets at that auction.

Question

was the '78 Vette (only?) a 25th anniversary model? I think it looked more like an Indy Pace Car without the decals. I wonder if they even know just what they have!?!

The 78 is an L48 automatic Pace Car. Not worth all that much being that it was the most common.

They know. The people at VanDerBrink Auctions are "in the know" when it comes to Automobile Auctioning.

OUTLAW is on a distinguished road
I love this kind of stuff. Im wondering if they left it alone and made a tourist attraction of it, could it be worth more than the cars? . I would love to see it untouched. Thanks Glenn I really enjoyed that.

I dont understand how this placed managed to go un touched? Can someone explain that to me and why now?

It's in the MidWest, Pierce, Nebraska which is a real old western type of town. It's a "sleepy" little town and I'm sure no one really cared about Lambrecht's closed down dealership building just sitting there. They've been storing cars there all through their years of business and they only closed the business in 1996. I guess the family only recently decided to finally make a move and "Go for the Gold" and cash 'em in.
I'm with you Nick, it really would be fun to see these cars in person.

Cool

I still think the '78 PC is one of the best looking Corvettes of all time. Even with the L-48 & auto trans, with minimal miles and still in wrappers, I would guess it brings $30,000. or more.

I agree. With 4 miles, all original and still wrapped its gotta be pretty desirable.

Corvette Mike has a Pacer in his dealership and he left it just the way he found it, with all the dust on it.
I personally like the 58 Cameo with 1 mile on the odometer. The 62 Impala with the 327/4spd. That was my 1st car. That pedal car Corvette is worth some serious money as is the collection of all those NOS parts on the shelves.
That should be an interesting auction.
OH Well, time to cut the grass.
