Magnaflow
After much thought and research I have decided to install the Magnaflow exhaust system onto the new Grand Sport. The Vette Shop will be doing the work, as they are a listed dealer for Magnaflow.
I was looking for a deeper muscle car sound that I did get from the GHL system that I had on the Z06 but unfortunately That company is not what it used to be and I couldn't get a system from them that I felt comfortable with. It will be installed tomorrow morning. It is not a cat back system, it will start up near the manifold and Will take a few hours to install. To date I am very happy with the Grand Sport convertible. It's everything I was looking for, speed, great looks at a cost I can deal with. Right now it sounds like a grand ma car And tomorrow it will sound like a sports car. Nick Cip

I had Magnaflow's on my 90, sounded great. Nick I'll be giving you a call soon to set up a time to swing by and take some photos of you Vette for your new board hopefully before the end of the week.

Thats a Beautiful GS you have Nick!
I'm sure that now it will sound as good as it looks. I still don't understand why Chevrolet doesn't put a better sounding exhaust on the Corvette from the factory. Americas best Sports Car ever, and one of the best in the world and you have to spend another $1000.00 plus to make it sound the way a real performance car should sound. F@rd does it with the Mustang. |

I don't get it. The mustang does have a great sound right out of the box. This new exhaust will cost me close to 2K? My guess, GM knows who is buying the Vette, older customers who probably prefer less noise?

GM proabably took a page out of Harley Davidson.
I purchased a dresser and it takes about 2 grand to make it sound and run like it should have when it left York PA I bet GM is doing the same thing. You need to spend several grand to make it the way GM should have. Mustangs never had the refinement or advances of Corvette anyway. My 1st car was a 67 Mustang in HS. Would have been nice to have a 67 Vette instead. Magnaflow is a nice system. They sound good on any performance car. Adam |

Another reason may be that the GM, in trying to keep the cost down on the Vette, skimped on the exhaust system.

Got the Grand Sport back today and I must say that the Vette Shop did a great job with the install. The pipes look great and the sound is just right for me. Deep mellow tone and not to aggressive. Although it can be awesome when I get on it.
Will my wife notice it? No doubt about it. Oh well, what the hell!
