I purchased a buffer/ polisher from Costal Tool and Supply in Hartford CT. Great service. I ordered it Monday and recieved it TODAY!!! I didn't get over night, it was sent UPS 3rd day service, but it only took over night. They have great prices, and sell all types of tools. I'd use them again. The buffer is great it's a random orbit up to 6,000 orbits per min. ;bt

;bt I'll have to check that out sometime! Those things scare me. I've always done my cars by hand only but I imagine these things have come a long way since the 80's.

with random orbit and the new style foam pads it's not like the old days. The new finishing materials are not as harsh as the old days polishing compounds. I just used some 3M Finesse-It II on the hood and trunk and it looks great. Now for some Z-5.... :D

What's the diameter of the wheel? I have a 9" and don't use it much because it doesn't fit into many surface areas. I like the smaller 5" or 7" polishers better. What do you think?

This is a 5"/ 6" buffer. I ordered the 6" velcro adaptor and counter weights for 6", it came with 5". So far I like it ... it does fit most surface area,
OK,Bill.I'll come early for the board meeting & you can practice on
my car.
The Lexus says "come get me"....
Bill, if you need any help let me know, we have used PC buffers for many years, you will be very pleased. :)

Thanks Carl, I've been experimenting on my car and it's a great piece of equipment. I've done the hood and trunk so far and it looks great. What buffing pads do you use? I used a white (polishing) but I have a gray (Xfine high gloss) on order, and some micro fiber pads for buffing after hand buffing. Got them from this place http://www.properautocare.com/index.html
I use a yellow pad for scratch and swirl products, white pad for finishing and fine scratch removal, gray pad for applying sealants and waxes without abrasives. PAC has good pads, I picked up a bunch a few months ago. I have something new that we have been working on, I will have to give you some when I see you. ;)

Bill:
I need to make an appt. to have you help me with the scratches on my car. I have been able to get some of the fine scratches out. Many deeper ones remain. I have been using the Zaino products and the cars looks great . But these scratches drive me nuts. :(
When the weather breaks, hopefully we can get together.
thanks. ;bt

Neil... That's good.. This buffer and some 3M product should help your marks. I'm very happy with the results on my car.
Neil... Watch him closely...

#1.. Porter Cable would take 300 lb presure to burn paint :)
#2.. Does Zaino kill brain cells?? I think not!!! :D
#3.. I have the roof, hood, trunk, and 2 rear quaters done, other than the hole and thin fiberglass on the trunk what's the problem??? You can't see it from the drivers seat. + it saves weight for racing.:D :D :D :D
Thats it! I'm sold!
C'mon over & press & grind & burn my paint away, Bill....
Oh yea, you'll be doing Donna's Pacifica & my leased Lexus..
You're not going near my vette with that oscillating, rotissere, thingee..... :D
