Hello Everyone - Any thoughts on repair/replacement of the stereo in my 1987 C4? Mid America has an AM/FM CD that looks good in the catalog but I'd like to hook up with a good installer in the Montgomeryville PA area before plunking down $550 on a mail order. I also understand that the digital/graphic dashboards can be somewhat tempramental and expensive to repair (the dash works fine now). I could use some words of wisdom before proceeding. Thanks. ------------Rich Kelly---------------------

H&R Radio in Warminster was a GM Authorized service center. I think they're going to be our speaker at the May Membership Meeting. You could give them a call and see if they can give you an estimate. Or if you were thinking of an up grade H&R or Wide World Stereo in Mville also does car audio.

Hi Rich
I've got a 90 with the Delco Bose Gold and I had nothing but problems with it. I went to Best Buy bought a great Panasonic MP3 am/fm no cassette less than $350. The original radio was much larger than it's replacement which presented a big problem. I went to a sound store on rt 611 in Willow Grove I think its called Good Sounds ( I can find out for sure if you want me to) and they had a conversion faceplate to accomodate the new radio perfectly. I bought new speakers wired it up without using any of the exsisting wires and its good as gold. Being a MP3 I have every song I like on 3 CDs about 300 per CD. I had mixed emotions about not keeping the vette 100% original so I still have the old radio, I can undo what I did anytime.

If you ever run into problems with your digital dash, Contemporary Corvette in Bristol Pa. has a guy who rebuilds them. Usually 2 or 3 days turnover. If they don't have one in stock.

Rich the sound store that had the conversion faceplate is Good Vibrations not Good Sounds. I knew it was Good something, I was half right. Don

Rich,
I have an original equipment Delco/Bose in my '93. I had H&R repair the CD and clean the tape player for a 2-300 bucks-- I took it out and reinstalled it. I would use them again.

H&R also has a brand new rooftop heating & A/C system in one of their repair areas..
Always good to deal with a place that has a climate controlled
repair facility.. ;)
