View Full Version : Good service from Eppie's
I just replaced my Goodyear Runflats (after 5 years and 20K miles), they were slicks on the rear. The tire installer said he never saw runflats that looked that bad. I got the Michelin Pilot Sport run flats instead which are a nice change. Anyway, one of my chrome replica Y2K rims, which I bought from Eppie's in August, had chrome peeling up on it where the stick-on wheel weights were removed for re-balancing.
I worked with Jay from Eppie's over the past week to get a warranty replacement on the wheel. A brand new wheel was mounted and balanced yesterday free of charge at Eppie's. Just thought you guys might want to know.

Glad to hear it! Jay is a great guy. He can be busy as anything in that shop and always find time for his good customers. I've also had nothing but the best service from Eppies.
BTW, JT, I think I saw you Monday afternoon at York & Street rds. Car looked great! ;bt
Yes that was me @ Street & York. I was wondering if that was you. I swear my comment to my wife that day was that "I bet that was Glenn who we met on the boardwalk. That's the cleanest electron blue around here, it has to be him."
I saw quite a bit of Jay's hectic operation for the past week. That place has a phone that doesn't stop ringing and a parking lot that fills and empties repeatedly. For a small business owner, I imagine these are good problems to have. :)

The last time I was at Eppies, Jay was on 3 phones at one time. One phone for a customer, one phone ordering tires from GoodYear, and his cell phone telling the warehouse what tires to bring to the shop!!!!! It's that way all the time

Yo JT - I was looking at those tires at the Tire-Rack. The Pilot Sport A/S ZP run flats were $337 for the rear 275/40/18 and $269 for the front 245/45/17. How was Eppies and does he keep them in stock or did you pre-order them?
He didn't stock them. He ordered them and it took about a week for them to arrive. He matched TireRack prices, which is pretty fair IMHO, since you save on the shipping charges and he gave me a fair deal on mounting and balancing. I paid in cash which also helped.
The tire installer, Mike, works the Hunter touchless machine with good care and rubber dishwashing gloves. It was an OK experience. I think its best to wait with the car, they will do all the work right there in front of you. I even took pictures last year when I bought the rims which I'm sure seemed strange to them. I took care of Mike as well because I'm sure he would appreciate it and take special care, which he did.
Let him know I was telling you about this if you end up talking to him, I won't get anything out of the deal, but I think it would be good for the club if he knew that some of us get to him by word of mouth. That's how I got to him. I told him that I was looking at Lee Soffer's tires just the week before which he put on (also Michelin Pilot Sport ZP's) :)
