Just realized that the odometer on my 69 Stingray just stopped working. The speedo works, but the odometer is not functioning.....neither is the tripometer. Based on the fact that the speedo still works, I'm things its gear related. Is this a common problem? How do I go about getting it fixed? I'm guessing that the odometer needs to be rebuilt?!? Can I remove the odometer to bring it somewhere easily? Does the whole dash need to be removed? Please help....

TIA!!!

The odometer repair is not easy. The dash section must be removed and the odometer repaired. You can buy a rebuild kit. The cable would not be the problem if the speedometer is working. It is not common on the 69 but it is on the 63-67 thy have a weak drive. so don,t buy a used one it will not last. donlemek@yahoo.com

The odometers in the Mid- Years have a gear that wears out.
If you can't find what you need in the catalogs. Call Ron at Corvette Paramedics. 609-265-2702
Tell him I sent you.
Good Luck.
Ron for parts,
Ed for service.

One other thing if you pull the cluster out to repair the odometer, now is the time to change all the light bulbs. Don,t buy one of the kits sold by all the corvette people like zip or lectric limited, the bulbs are junk- made in china and some won't last a week !!buy them from GM or a good US parts house. You can also send the speedometer out to a good rebuilder like D+M or Rogers don't have the face refinished it won't match the rest of them.
