Given bro...

You were first to tell me to lose the Vortex once I started racing..... ;bt

Read the VaraRam website for my post on the forum over 1 year ago. You can also read any VaraRam ad in your favorite magazine too.

Heck my post is so old that the thread is gone on the CCDV site and the Forum.

Best single mod you can make to a stock C5.

OK, so the real question is... Who wants to help me install one? :D

I may take the plunge and do it. In retrospect, it will probalby give me more than the electric water pump gives me

EWP is good for 5-10 flywheel, NOT RWHP..

Edgar, on your car, the gains may not be as much as mine or others, but I believe you will DEFINITELY pick up MPH & have some ET drop as well!

To date, every person who has installed this, has improved over their past cold air intake system, be it Vortex, Proflow, Halltech, or Blackwing with cold air box over it..

Its all positive having it. Especially in a pure drag race car like yours... You will need track tuning for it to be effective, because pressure builds within it at speed.

Dyno tuning is only a guesstimate.
If you get it dyno tuned, have it tuned way rich on the top end...
Because at high speeds, this will really lean you out.

Al, I remember when you put the VR on. You and I were always running close, I'd get you off the line then you'd catch up, but with the VR you caught up in short order! So I know the VR works.

El, why do you say EWP is worth 10 flywheel and not rear wheel? If that is the point how does anyone verify the claim is true?

Why do you think that on my car it may not be as dramatic as yours when mine is trapping higher than yours? Wouldn't it make sense the faster you are the more the benefit?

Are you trying to change my mind? :)

No buddy not at all.. In fact remember I was asking you to get it a yr ago so I could know first hand the results. Remember??
I thought they were going to send you one, but it fell trhu..

Anyway, definitely get it.. I think that will put you into the 10's!!!

From the guys I spoke to on the boards, it seems the most radical gains are on cars that are closer to stock.

Like Al got .5 going from stock.....

For a car like yours which is really tweeked well, the gains WILL be there for sure, but possibly not as much as some other cars.

I feel I got .1 & 2 mph. So did MikieC.

You could get .15 or .07 ?? Who knows?

I think it all boils down to tuning essentially, and I know you have the best guys in your pocket, so check with them, but I would love to see you get one and run 10's!!!!!

The EWP... I heard the gain was up to 10 RWHP. Most guys do it who change cams because its right there, and since its less drag and every little bit helps, right?

I don't believe their is any hp in the EWP. I think I wasted my bucks on it.

Don't forget those stock increases, including Al's was from stock filter to vararam.

If you think it will get me in the 10's you are saying it will give me .26 which, if I beleived was the case, I would have one at my house before I get there on Friday. I don't think it is the case and am heasitent to even try.

I just got a bonus at work so maybe I will splurge on it.

Now yes, Vararam was going to be a sponsor for the Challenge and we were to provide a test bed for them on mulitple cars. Al was the first test and he bought it and then Patrick decided to forget who we were (although today he still quote Cartek Corvette Challenge Al B. results).

Hummm .26 on your car might be a bit, but if you got half of that I'd bet you'd like it.

Can comment on the vendor/Challenge issue.. If you have a gripe with Patrick then up to you if you want to patronize his firm & use his product.. I didn't realize that.

But all in all I think it will give your car Edgar, or anyone elses car the most ET & MPH improvement compared to any other intake.

I know the Vararam is good and I've read a ton of comparo tests with the Vortex and the others as well. I think the 2 best are definitely the 2 Vee's as we now say. Now, I have the Vortex, and right now I can't really afford to change to the Vararam, but, having run other cars with both bolt ons I think they're so close as to all things being equal it boils down to which driver makes a mistake more than the air box. ;yn ;yn

I'm going to disagree with you on that one Mike...

The Vararam definitely out pulls & will give a quicker ET & mph than the Vortex while drag racing.

I had the Vortex for 3.5 years, and comparing my Vortex runs to runs after the Vararam was installed, I consistently ran 1.5 mph faster & pulled quicker ET's by .06-.1 with the Vararam.

I agree with Ellis. I don't have a C-5, but the facts speak for themselves. ;)

After dyno testing Vortex, Hall Tech (2 different sytems from them) Blackwing and Vararam, the Vararam made the most dyno power (on a 2002 Z06) and largest SOTP gains. :)

Hey Joe,

I've done it and would be glad to help. A lift would be nice but is no essential. Takes about 3 hours.

Good time to change or mess around with the fog lights too.

Well I have been motivated to place the order

Ordered it today from RG in Dalla for $305 shipped free.

I know Al started from stock and El bought a new shroud but do you think i can get away with the cut shroud on install?

YO-EL

Hummmmmmmm not sure on that one.
I guess you can seal it up, but I think stock shrouds are inexpensive...

Can't wait to see your results! Remember, TRACK tuning, or have them tune you RICH mid track to upper end because it will REALLY lean you out at speed!

I am trying to sell my ProFlow+ filter with shroud in exchange for cash and shroud to a couple of new C5 owners. I should have the vararam on Tuesday and can't work on it till Friday and hopefully get it out by then. I know they are inexpensive cause I ahd to buy one already.
