You gotta watch this video. This may be the next major step in internal combustion engines since before Henry Ford. IMO

Knowing your sense of humor, I thought it may be another Turbo Encabulator......but wow.....cool for real! :)

I had read an article about this maybe a year ago. Inovative to say the least.

I read about these a while back too. This has been around for about 100 years. Even used in German aircraft during WWII.

Al's right! They've been around for a long time. Difference now is we have semiconductors and computers that are able to program out all the inefficiencies.

It appears to be a lubrication nightmare. But more importantly (someone tell me if I'm wrong, I might be missing something), if there is just one malfunctioning piston/cylinder, the engine fails completely, right? You need two complete halves unless you tie it into other parallel units to provide the next compression stroke. The guy is obviously smarter than me, so what am I missing?

What we really need is a better rotary engine. Too much efficiency loss converting a pistons motion into rotating energy.

Joe, They said in the video that they can actually de-activate one of the two cylinders so I would say if one fails it can still work producing less power of course. Most 4 cylinder engines don't run too great with a failed cylinder either.

I can't visualize it running at all with a cylinder dropped but I'll take their word on it since its not my life on the line. A regular engine may not run great while missing but it could move you out of harms way. Military specs should be geared toward worse case scenario.

I agree with you !!
