Car and Driver has had several articles on Street Tires and also on track tires. You might want to check it out.

There is a plethora of info out there, I was leaning towards the G force, but I have read a lot of bad reviews about extreme noise and lousy tread life

Nitto (http://www.nittotire.com/index.html) Invo's A great tire at a very good price. They are NOT runflats. I have never bought run flats for either of my Corvettes but some people will not be without them...
I have 2 sets of tires for my C6, Nitto Invo's and a set of Nitto NT-05's. Both are far superior to the OEM Goodyear F1 Supercar tires

Check out the Hankook Ventus V-12s. Non Runflats.
I put them on Arleens 98 and Love the ride. They are quiet and have great traction.
Can't beat the price.

I had Nitto 555's on my C5. I saw my old car this past summer and those tires look almost like new. They have at least 35K miles on them. Plus, they're very price competitive and really hook. A set of 4 for a C6 will set you back around $ 720.00. C5 tires are about a hundred bucks cheaper. ;yn

If you race at Atco you should also look in to getting a cheap set of rims and put some drag radials on them. Street tires and the water box doesn't mix too well. You will get better and more consistent results with a set of drag radials.
