John:
Looks like you're hooked!! I still have to break in my new 3:55 rear. I'll be out there sooner or later - but not this weekend. I still don't know why a replacement rear needs a break-in period when new cars never do!?! Anyone have an answer??

Need to seat the ring and pinion in and run the bearings in a bit. Won't take you long. In fact I saw you playing hooky on Terwood rd today in your Vette!! You have an Automatic so there is less shock to the rear when you launch. Have fun !!

Thanks Bob!! I used the excuse that I was taking mail to the Post office. I also had fun doing lots of tight figure 8's in the big parking lot across from the TD bank at Red Lion & Philmont! But I still don't understand why then don't all new cars or especially Vettes have a break in period?

They do Joel..

500 miles of normal stop & go driving to get everything to seat before you "get on it".. 2-3 good heat ups & over night cool down cycles will break in the rear just fine...

"IN" for the 24th!

Ellis is absolutely correct. Most new cars tell you to take it easy for the first 500 miles. Normal driving-no sustained high speeds and heating and cooling cycles. Have Fun !!
