I have decided not to rejoin CCDV this year.

Please don't hate me.

I just did not get to use the benefits of the club with it being over an hour away and me being out of town so much.

No problem,Edgar.CCDV is only for winners.

Edgar - no prob. You're still OK with us & we understand. However, we did previously have a member from Sweden. He didn't make too many events either!!
Richy : Van Steel - Cup Holder? - I'm impressed!! Was that a trophy you won?? or something on the console you just want to brag about?????

Actually Joel,I wish it was a trophy(if I can't win one,at least I could buy one). The reason for its prominent spot in my signature is to alert other C5 owners that there is a great cup holder to
replace the little crappy factory one.In an emergency,it's big enough to serve as a "motorman's friend"( for those of you old enough to remember the PTC trolleys).

Hey Edgar I'm always out of town and make very few meetings. Never stopped me from signing up. :D :D

Guess we better take that club member off your signature.

See you in a couple of weeks. Good luck in SC

I guess Edgar doesn't want to see his name on the Corvette Challenge Club Trophy again this year. Wonder what that's all about. Could it be another club getting a secret weapon? I told you we should have paid him more. :D Sorry to see you go Edgar, you were a real asset to the club.

Sorry you wont be joining us this year, but I understand. Again good luck in SC and we'll see you on the 13th of March.

Hey Edgar, I can understand you not re-joining CCDV. Especially since you live so far away (the swamps of Jersey:D) and all that, but, I just want to thank you for all the help & tips you gave all us racers. You are a good guy & I'd like to call you a friend.;yn The best of luck to you down in Dixie! ;bt Of course our club points will suffer for a little while, but, we have some up & coming competitors who'll do just all right this season.;bt;bt And, we'll all certainly hook up this summer again at E.Town...;ps

PS: with all the dues money you save, it's your turn to buy the pizza!! ;jj;jj

Edgar,

At first, I was not going to respond to your post because I didn't think it was any of my business to do so.
I have changed my mind. There are quite a few people that travel 45 minutes to an hour or more to attend a CCDV meeting. There are also quite a few that travel considerably during the week for business reasons and still make some of the meetings. To my knowledge, you have never attended a CCDV meeting, but NO ONE has held that against you in any way. The one "benefit" that you have participated in has been the CCDV racers.
I know that you have helped a number of CCDV racers in many different ways - me being one of them. We all thank you for that. I will personally miss your advice and support. I know that sounds self-serving, but that is how I feel. I am sure it is not a question of dues, if it were I would gladly pay that for you.
After all of the above being said, what is it Edgar that is causing you to leave us?
I hope that you can be open with us. I can only speak for myself; I will always consider you my friend, I am just sorry that I can no longer consider you a CCDV member.

Lee, Edgar did make one meeting ... :D (had to buy him a drink...Coke  ) Edgar you will always be welcome to come to a meeting even if you are not a member. You have been a helping hand to our racers, and have helped several to do better each event. To that I say "Thanks for sharing your experience in racing". Not everyone will do that. Thank you for the Challenge web site first class job. And last but not least thanks for being a friend to CCDV!!!! See you soon!!!! Bill

Lee, Edgar has been wearing many hats throughout these past couple of years. As the Corvette Challenge continues to grow his responsibilities also grow. His time is limited and a man can only do so much in a 24 hour day. Edgar, I too consider you my friend and if there is anything I(we) can do for you lets us know. Talk to you soon.;bt

Thanks guys but don't expect me to stop helping you!! I am always open to help anyone including a group so tightly integrated in racing together. I consider you all friends to.

By the way, with the new points system, my points will not be missed much.

Lee, I have mixed reasons for not renewing my membership.

Yes keeping the money is a small reason (it will cover a race day;).
Not being able to participate in events with the club is another. I am either away, racing away racing, or making up for racing with the wife and kids. Does not leave much time for club events.

I can't believe you're leaving a club that gives you free food at every meeting.

Redgar - I'm sorry you don't want to renew because you will be missed. But if you have mix reasons for leaving and if they are related to the club, I suggest you share them with the board members. We are always looking for input from our members to improve and strenghten our club. We don't take anything personnal. Or you can e-mail the president with your concerns if you feel more comfortable.

Carl free food at every meeting is another benefit I can't take :( cause I can't make the meetings.

Ed, there is nothing wrong with club. The endless stream of activities is super. I have always been made to feel welcome by all club members. CCDV does not suffer from the ills of what others say clubs do like force you to attend meetings, not parake in racing events. I had never been a part of a club and it is a great way for people with common interest in the car to get together.

I think I am more of a cyber gathering kind of person like this forum and the corvette forum and the 4 corvette related web sites I manage when I am not working, racing or chillin' with my daughters.

All kidding aside Edgar, I can totally understand your decision. Guess I'll see you down at E Town this spring....;yn provided that we ever have decent weather! Thanks again for your great support & input! ;bt By the way, enjoy your daughters now, before they change overnight from an ulcer to a hemorrhoid overnight (when they become teen agers) !! :D:D:D I know, I have 4 of them....;jj

Probably why I enjoy a shot of Jack now & then...;ac

Well this may sound stupid, but I did not rejoin CCDV because many of my customers got mad that I would not join their clubs, and advertise in their monthly news letters like I did for several years in the Gas Cap, just trying to keep all my customers happy. Oh yea and I do not own a Vette at this time, first time since 1985 ;cs ;cs

Carl I extend the same invitation to you ... You are welcome to attend anytime you want. You can even bring some of your ZAINO products to sell... Or just to eat some free food and answer some question... Bill

Bill, Thank you. You know I only sell Zaino 9:00 - 5:00 on weekdays, the free food thing is another story though. :D You're only saying that because I am not a Vette owner anymore ;aw

I do not think I am going to take the CTS-V, and here is why, I found out from my dealer that the lease price for 36 months is $987.00   because in his words they know the car will be worth nothing in 3 years, the second reason is the dealer gave me a CTS to drive for a few days, now I know it does not have a V8 let alone a LS6, but I thought the car seemed cheap, in my opinion. So it looks like I am either back to a Viper or a SL55.

Bill Burkholder
02-20-04, 10:13 AM
Carl is the SL-55 the AMG version of the SL-500???? If so it's a nice car. I get a guys SL-500 every couple of weeks in the summer.

Yes it is, I am leaning that way, it's way more than I want to spend, but you know how that goes :(

I hear AMG may do a Chrysler Crossfire 325 + HP.

Mike Campbell
02-20-04, 02:46 PM
Well, Carl, at least you're sticking with the "krauts" ( after all Chrysler was conquered by them too!) instead of;at;at (horror of horrors!!!) going for a (I hate to type it even...;gm) Ford GT...or maybe a V10 Shelby. ;faz After all, why buy American when we can give our money to our wonderful allies....;yn;yn

I sure hope I haven't offended anyone...;ee, but, if I have I totally say, ";it Too bad..;it"
