I need to replace the rear brake pads on Christines 07 VW Passat Wagon. In order to do this I need the VAG-COM software (or similar) to release/reset the electric rear parking brake. You can't just force the brake fluid back to the res, it'll give you faults. Brake sensor needs to be reset to the new pad thickness etc. Crock of crap if you ask me.

Does anyone in the club already own this software (or know someone who does) who can loan it to me? I don't believe it's married to the car, I think it's open to use on unlimited vehicles.

Thanks.

Joe, Sorry, I don't have one !! Sounds like a PITA just to do rear brakes !! What will they think of next-a dealer visit to add air to your tires!!

It's definitely a way to get people to go to the dealers for service. The sedan has a normal parking brake, so I don't know what the issue was for the wagon to go electric.

The kit most VW forums recommend costs $350. If I need it twice, I know it'll pay for itself, but who knows when that'll be. The eBay ones look like scams, telling buyers to download the other companies software and use their cheaper cable. Sounds like a support nightmare.
