If you can either email me or PM the answer to my post in the other thread, I'd appreciate it. Just looking for clarification.

And C5pilot - I ain't trying to push any buttons, if i was looking to do that i would have responded much earlier than i did. Believe it or not, I am looking to help CCDV.

Not Naples here Mike, its me, Ellis.

Dude... when you wrote:
"I really do wish CCDV the best in it's future, it just isn;t my thing. I never really got much out of it, and don't see myself getting anything out of it. I guess i'm not a Club kinda guy."

Just tell me why you're so inclined to comment on CCDV issues?

Maybe if you joined, you'd get more out of it.

As a non member, your commenting on Club topics, makes it look like you're sticking your nose in other's peoples affairs, of which you yourself say you have no interest in joining?

Doesn't make sense to me. You care enough to read & participate in our forums, yet you won't join CCDV?

Maybe the getting the Gas Cap doesn't warrant the $40 membership fee to you, but you gotta realize that your comments (basically as an outsider), are really not sitting well with members.

If you care enough to read, post & comment, then JOIN.

Love back at ya bro.....

Mike, I agree with what Ellis said. It just doesn't make sense to vocally swear off being a member but then have a comment on every member issue that arises. You admit that there is nothing here for you, yet you continue to return only to say you got nothing out of being a member. I'd say that's why you weren't happy as a member... most members joined the club and brought something to add to it, not to just take something away.

PS. thank you for requesting that naples answer you by PM.

You're right maybe i shouldn't respond so much, but i guess one reason i'm doing it is to point out what i felt was wrong, and hopefully taking member's rose colored glasses off to see what i felt was wrong with it. I feel some existing members might have my same concerns and might take the same path i did - Are there better ways of doing this? yes, should i join to explore those methods? not yet -

Maybe if you joined, you'd get more out of it.

I particiapte in the forum cause it is local to me, and as you might know from cf.com I have a good deal of interest in running and participating in Local events. Heck, there has been a discussion to have our Monthly Breakfast Club come to the Calvacade this weekend, I didn't push this event much cause i felt after last year's episode it wasn't worth it. I was planning on going with the group to the Calvacade still, but have decided not to now. :(

Could we eliminate this problem with a "Read Only" availability to the Forum for non CCDV club members? If you have the interest to contribute either negative or positive to club issues, you should become a CCDV member.

Good point! Would it make sense for Guests to have access to PM or e-mail links? Just thinking out loud.

I don't think Guest have any rights except to read the threads, but Forum members have full rights, as i mentioned in my PM - best bet is to restrict the actually forum subsection similar to how the GasCap is. this is how i do it on another forum.

**edit - added ***
Also for clarification - there is a difference between forum member and Club member. i.e forum member would be someone who is registered to post on this forum . maybe asking questions or getting feedback. club member is an active paying member of CCDV and also a forum member.

Not exactly. There are reasons for having different levels between a guest, website member, and club member. A website member is someone who is not a CCDV club member but is still interested in posting useful information. There are all kinds of people who can have a positive impact on the website or find help without getting involved with the club. Imagine if someone from GM wanted to post information or someone lives in another state and has a question. A guest is someone only interested in reading posts.

However, I agree that we need an exclusive CCDV members area and I'm going to request we add it to the site. Club issues should remain between club members and their board of directors. It would be a better place to inform people which topics need to be addressed at meetings etc. Thanks for your input guys.

If the forum were "Read Only" for everyone except members, why do we need to have a forum member? Why not let everyone who is interested in CCDV view how the members correspond with each other. So, you are either a guest or a member.

If that was in place, then an e-mail address that guests could use for questions or to submit information to the club would have to be added to the home page. That address could be monitored by an Officer or Board Member and would be needed to field any legitimate questions or pass along any useful information to the members. If the guest requires a response, they must supply their personal e-mail address or telephone number.

I will concur with Joe.

Just like the C5 Registry has a "Members Only" section, possibly our "CCDV General Discussion" area should only be for current CCDV members.

This way, only members can comment & discuss club issues, and we wouldn't have to deal with outsiders sticking their 2 cents in club affairs when they're not even members.

Let non CCDV members continue to post in all other areas.

Keep them OUT of the CCDV General Discussion.

Joe, can you see to this?

I can't "make it happen", but I promise to suggest it to the website committee at the next meeting. It's actually long overdue as you can tell by some of the other threads. And yes, El, I would have allowed the other thread to remain open a little longer if only club members had access to it. You did a good thing by starting the site but it's grown to more than just club members. The public should see our good side, not just the problems. There is nothing wrong with a heated discussion but it shouldn't be allowed to be the only topic. People will not post if it appears we just like to argue.

Joe...

People will post if they have something to say.

Period.

Thats what its all about, people expressing their opinions, making comments & suggestions, & criticizing problem areas.

Your censorship to what you felt was not a 100% favorable CCDV love fest was out of line and affects us all...

No need to shut down any thread where its not a flowery CCDV love-in.

If something applies to CCDV or the Corvette world, good, bad, or indifferent, we should be able to discuss it.

I supremely & will continue to object to your shut down of that thread where people were vehimately & passionately posting their feelings on CCDV topics, the Gas Cap, membership, etc...

How dare you! (And I really mean that!)

You have NO RIGHT to squelch peoples opinions, or supress them when they voice their complaints about CCDV & related issues.

I am really ticked off that you locked that thread...
(can't you tell??) haha!
