I have a 91 Vette and am contemplating putting in the following:
a K&N filter, an increased air flow cover, a power coupler, a Thermo Master power chip and low temp thermostat. What can I expect from a performance standpoint? Is there any downside to be aware of?
I don't have any experience with the L98 engine, however when I installed the free flowing air filter there was a noticable difference in acceleration, coupled with the Corsa exhaust.
Just my .02, I would say that if you haven't already installed a free flow exhaust, that should be the next step of your mod.
You are bringing in more air, you need to get it back out again.
As the guys here told me when I asked that question on this forum..."Let It Breathe"

Thanks, I was thinking about an exhaust system as the next step. I was wondering what increase in HP I might expect with my first step and whether or not any increase in HP would cause any drive train stress problems?

Hi Bob
I don't think the mods you are doing should hurt anything.
There are lots of mods you can do that will produce more HP with out threatening the drivetrain. Is your Vet a 6 Spd or Automatic. What are you going to do with it. Autcross, Drag Race, ETC?
For street driving you won't hurt a thing unless you plan to run the heck out of it. Then there are some upgrades to do. But it depends on what you are starting with.
