Are you watching the auction through this weekend on the Speed channel! That's channel 607 for you DirecTV folks out there. I've seen some pretty good deals so far tonite. Only saw one Corvette so far, a 1960 retail red roadster went for $27G. They just unloaded a couple of Vipers. Some cool stuff coming up tomorrow!

A RED/RED 63 Split Window with a 300 hp, auto went for $33000.00. A bit high for an automatic car with no options.
GEEZ, I wonder what a C-5 will bring in 40 years :D

Joe - The fire and wine sounds great. We can come over and get a buzz and bid on all the cool cars. The next day we will need to get a second job to pay for them. I haven't done something goofy like that in a long time.

Top dog so far was the '67 convertible 427/435 which went for $135,000! That's more than my allowance, I'll have to wait for a Corvair or something! I'm sitting by the fire too, trying to keep warm. See you guys....

They sure had some beautiful cars on the block last night
Chevelle SS convts. and that COPO 69 Camaro did it for me.
Arleen suggested we go next year! :D She won't have to ask me twice ;)
Rick, the show in March is closer in time & distance.Would have been great to plan a CCDV trip there.Liitle too late now for most members' schedules.Let's think about next year.I'm sure south
Florida has one or two nice cars (other than Lissa's & Carl's).

GOOD IDEA Richy!
But I think Arleen is trying to get me to Arizona, and talk me into moving there.
She says thats where we should move to as she really HATES the weather here.
If we do go, I don't think we'll be coming back :(

Hi Everyone,
Sat by the fire and watched. 54 Corvette for 100K ! 69 Z28 for 112K!! WOW. The Bowtie cars really brought some great numbers.
Also Some great Buys. Rick I thought you would look great in that Yellow Pro Street Vette. Went very reasonably in the 30's I think.
Gotta go to one of these.

What made that Silver 63 Split Window coupe go for $137,500 Saturday around 4:15pm? Did you see it? It WAS a gorgeous car, my ultimate favorite. It did have some factory chrome that apparently was a factory option under the doors and they said there was rumor that it was the New York Auto show Corvette from 1962.
There was a 67 Roadster, 427 (but not a 435) just before it that only fetched $88k.
Why such a large difference?
Another question...
What do you suppose Barrett-Jackson's percentage is per car?
How about the guy that so far has bought 4 Callaway's?!!!

There was a discussion last night about percentages. As I recall, if you had a reserve and the selling price was under $100,000 you paid 10%. A no reserve car for the same price was 8%. If the car was $101,000 to $400,000 you paid 6%, and cars over $400,000 had NO commission. I think that is why the Lincoln Zephyr went quickly to $400,000 from the high $300's because they knew they would save on the commission. I believe the commission is then on top of the bid price, so you have to add that to the bid price to get total cost of the car.
Do you think we could get that guy to bring all 4 Callaway cars to the Cavalcade?

Makes you think about going into the AUCTION business ;)
The Corvettes were bringing in some very big numbers$$$$$$$.
There were some big $s changing hands. Makes you wonder about the state of our economy
Observations:
1.Prices seemed outrageous.$400k for a Lincoln street rod.I wonder what that'll be worth in 10 years?
2.Announcers didn't recognize balding guy with black pony tail who paid $260k for a black Shelby GT500 coupe. It was Ted Wait,
founder of Gateway Computers.
3.Most obnoxious moment was interview with guy who just bought the string of 4 Callaways( + earlier the Sunoco racer,etc.).
Instead of saying how thrilled he was to own these magnificent
& unique cars,he said what a good investment they were & how much they would appreciate(as if he had to convince/impress his
wife & the audience as to how clever he was).
No wonder Craig Jackson couldn't stop smiling. :D :D Did anyone see the shot of the watches that he designs? I think they said they go for a couple thousand !!!!

You guys are too late - I left as soon as I saw the Playmate of the Year was selling her car. Sure as heck she forgot she would need a ride home if she sold her car, so I got there just in time to take her home. Rick, she was asking about you! It sure is nice and warm here.
