View Full Version : Who Says a Blown C5 Can't Be A Daily Driver?

After sitting in the driveway all night, with the temp. at 7F at start up this morning, car engine just roared( actually whistled) into life.
A little dicey at the ice covered gutter at the end of the driveway,
but otherwise OK.Only inconveniences are the absence of heated leather seats in the Z & the 160 F thermostat recommended for the blower.Would not try serious acceleration with the incredibly hard SC tires.By the time I reached my shop, the oil temperature was still reading "LOW" on the DIC.Still great to drive a car like this year round.

Hi Richy,

Happy New Year to you and your family.

Congrats for getting 'blown'. I am looking forward to your ATI Z on the track doing mid 11's at least.

As for the oil temp reading low on initial start, mine did the same thing today - after your warmup, turn the engine off and then back on again, the should clear the DIC low warning light.

Do you notice a big difference in performance with the ATI in cold weather??? It makes a huge difference in mine. I had my Vette out last weekend and it is breaking loose when I punch it in 3rd gear.

Norm, even in warm weather the SC tires on the Z are not up to
the hp when it comes to traction. In weather as cold as today,I would not even attempt to really launch the car so I can't really comment on any difference in blower performance. In general,as
all the CCDV racers will tell you,all our cars run significantly better
at low temperatures,traction issues aside.

Hey Richy,

Wonder if a midyear with a blower would start after being outside in 5 degree weather?

Hey Al,I'm sure Rick would say it would.According to him ,midyears
can do anything a computer assisted Vette can do.

NOW, NOW Richy
I never said they can do anything a Computer assisted Corvette can do ;)
I do know that they can't get you stuck when the steering column locks up. :D
I guess I had that one comming Richy :)
Well, it's time to go out in the cold.
Have a GOOD DAY Guys :)
