I'm thinking of buying these,,,http://www.ecklers.com/product.asp?pf_id=51506&dept_id=135# but it says I have to drill holes,,has anyone installed something similar and did you have to remove the wheels in order to drill the holes,,thanks,,,btw I'd like to hear if anyone has opinions about splash guards,,weather you feel they detract from the appearence of the car,,etc.

Go to Pipedreams on the Corvette forum. No holes & they're virtually invisible plus they do help protect your car. Plus they're a lot cheaper than the ones you're looking at. ;bt
Appreciate your input guys,,I'm still not sure what I'm going to do. Not sure if I want to drill the holes.

The GM splash guards that Moose13 (http://www.ccdv.com/forums/member.php?u=1048) just installed on his 6 are really nice. They should do the job perfectly and use exisiting holes and screws already in the car. These are made for the C6
Hopefully Moose (Mark) will see this and possibly post a picture or 2 of his splash Guards.
You should be able to get them from Bryner for under $100
Part# 19170234 for the set of 4
Thanks Glenn,,what I originally liked about the Ecklers guards were thay matched my body color

I don't have any pics yet, but there are a bunch on the C6 vette forum. They are matte black, I think someone on there had them painted but they come black. That being said they are pretty small and don't really show too much. The fronts use existing holes that are there, however the rears need 4 holes drilled on each side, and you need to remove the wheels to do that. Carboman helped me with this and it didn't take long. Here is one link showing them on a silver C6:

Bill,
The factory black ones will look great on your car. Also, the rears meet up with the rear valance and are made of the same material so they match and look factory.

The factory ones require you to drill holes for the rear guards.

I have the ones you are looking at on my '96. I think they look good and they do protect the body. I have the rear Z06 guards on my '06. Yes you have to drill a couple of hole but no big deal. I've seen the new ones that are made for the regular C6 and if they were avail when I did mine I would have have put them on. I believe the rear guards are a little smaller than the Z06 ones that I have but I'm happy with the look and protection I get from them. My front wheel wells are sand blasted from road stones and will need to be repainted and the new ones would have protected them. This is not a big job to do.

I have the same Z06 rear guards as Tony (he helped me install mine). They needed modification to fit a C6 but work great. Now that a C6 style is available it's a no brainer for new installs.
I'd like to order a set just for the fronts. If anyone would like to buy the rears, PM me.
Tony,,,,, the ones your referring to,,are they the ones that are painted to match your cars body color,,they're the original guards I was looking at?

If you were to get the body colored splash guards you’d be wasting your money in my opinion. The point of these things is that they will take the sandblasting abuse without showing it. If they are painted, they will end up looking like hell from the sandblasting.
The factory guards are made of the same ABS material that your rear diffuser is made of and the rear guards actually blend right in with the rear diffuser.
If you were to paint the guards or purchase them painted, you'll just end up ruining them as they perform the job they are meant for...
ALSO, Mark and I can install them for you.... FREE OF CHARGE

I just installed the GM guards & they were very easy to install. Would highly recommend them. Rear wheels must be removed to drill & install the rear guards. They look great. I had a full set of guards from pipedreams which look OK also. If you like them you can have them for $20.00. They are like new.
Glenn I believe the only portion of the guards that are painted are the small areas that you can see from the rear,,I think the facing area is black like the others,,I might be wrong but thats what the picture looks like to me.

I went to Altec's web site and found their pricing,,, if they are the same product,,,appears to be higher than Ecklers.

Tony,,,,, the ones your referring to,,are they the ones that are painted to match your cars body color,,they're the original guards I was looking at?
Yes, but they were designed for the C4's. When I bought the one's for my '96 they only came in black. Since I had a CE with the black gut and top I thought it'd look better left black. I haven't seen a c6 with the ones you're looking at but any kind of protection is better than none.
