Cruise to R.I. Newport Mansions

NEW DATE:When: October 2nd to the 5th
Where: Newport, Rhode Island
What the heck is this about?

In Newport R.I. there are a group of mansions (http://www.newportmansions.org/page7016.cfm) that where built during America’s gilded age by Industrial Giants such as Carnegie, Vanderbilt etc...The Newport Mansions Organization www.newportmansions.org (http://www.newportmansions.org/) has returned the mansions to their original condition and has opened them for public viewing.

Why am I telling you this?

We are putting together a road trip to tour the Mansion at Newport, RI its about 260 miles a 5 to 6 hour drive from Willow Grove, PA (depending on the strength of your bladder). We will drive up on Friday Oct.2nd check into the Holiday Inn Express in Middletown (7 minute drive to the mansions) then go to dinner (TDB). Saturday and Sunday will be spent touring the mansions. Sometime during the weekend we will take a popular 10 mile scenic ocean drive cruise which came highly recomended. Monday will be the drive home.

Cost?

The cost for mansion tickets are $26 per/person if less than 20 people the cost is $31 p/p.

If you've never been to Newport RI it's worth a look. It's amazing to see what was built before there was income tax.

I made some real progress on getting a great price on a Hotel in the Newport area. Hotels in the Newport area are very expensive, it's not uncommon to find prices in excess of $250 per night. I was able to work out a good deal with the people at the Holiday Inn Express in Middletown, RI (7 minute drive to the mansions) $159 per night. They are going to hold a block of 20 rooms for the CCDV. Each couple will be responsible for calling the Hotel and paying for their room.
I'm waiting for the Holiday Inn to send me a contract with all the details. Once I recieve it I will post dates, exact prices, telephone numbers and deadlines. Please do not attempt to book a room until you recieve the above info. Thanks Don

I tried to book a room at the Holiday inn, was told the block of rooms was not in their system yet. I was asked to call in a couple of days.
