Hi Everyone,

It is a sad time for the Corvette and racing community. According to postings on the ZR1 Net, John Lingenfelter passed away on Christmas Day.

My condolences to the Lingenfelter family and business family on the loss of John.

He was truly one of the most talented engine/performance car tuners in these times. His Corvettes are almost untouchable in terms of performance.

John loved to join us at our annual ZR-1 Gatherings in Bowling Green. Did you know John was born in PA?

Only 58 years old! Does anyone know what the cause of his death was?

Joel, He hit the wall in a Drag Race Car at 200 MPH and had been in a coma for I believe over a year. The chances of recovery for him were not good from the time of the accident.

FYI...Here is a note that I posted on another list and a post regarding the NCM

I have never had the opportunity to meet Mr. Lingenfelter, but last winter I made a great decision and took my Vette out to Lingenfelter's to have a super charger installed.
My observations were that this is a company of highly trained professionals, who work togeather, enjoy their jobs and are in fact part of the Lingenfelter family. So this is a huge loss for the Lingenfelter employees as well as the immediate family.

I am quite certain that the Lingenfelter Legacy will carry on. My thoughts and prayers are with them.

Here is an e-mail we recieved from the National Corvette Museum, if anyone is interested, you can contact Becky via e-mail:
Commemorative Brick to Be Placed In Memory of John Lingenfelter

In memory of John Lingenfelter and at the request of Corvette friends, a large brick will be placed in our brick walkway to commemorate his love and support of Corvette. John Lingenfelter, founder of Lingenfelter Performance Engineering, passed away December 25th, 2003. John had been in a semi-comatose state since November 2002 when he entered into a coma during surgery that was necessary due to a racing accident in Pomona, California in October 2002. He was owner and operator of Lingenfelter Performance Engineering in Decatur, Indiana for the past 30 years and competed in Sport Compact Drag Racing with NHRA. If you are interested in making a donation to the John Lingenfelter memorial brick, contact our membership department at: becky@corvettemuseum.com or call (800) 53-VETTE.

I know some members on ZO6.com are doing something similar, and we have posted this there as well.
