I have not heard that Stockerberger was going out, but at the same time I would not be surprised.
I am pretty sure Weed Chevrolet is history or will be soon.

I live in Newtown and yes that is the word. They want to use the site for condos. They wanted to move out to the 332 by-pass but was nixed by the townshop plus Reedman is a Chrysler dealer and it would be inside the distance requirements between competing dealers.

Is the Chevrolet store also going out? Stockberger Chrysler and Stockberger Chevrolet are in two different locations in Newtown. Chrysler is on Sycamore St (532), Chevy is on State St.

End of an era.... Too bad. I had ordered my 99 from them and even though the car never came, I hate to see them go under.

I hear you Glenn. The issue is more global. There are 9000 dealers for the big 3 yet Honda only has 1200 dealers and Toyota 1800. Intersiting, Toyota has its back against the wall GM came out with too many models (see Scion) and that in MHO put GM where they are. A HUMMER A3 is essentially a Yukon. More plants, expense, etc. They need to get back to basics.

That sucks that all the Mom and Pop Chevy dealers are being pushed out of business and are closing their doors.
I remember building their new body shop on the lower lot of their property back in the 80's

This is true. Within the next 30 days or so, Chevrolet will be gone in Newtown. This is from a reputable source, another Chevrolet dealership.

I believe that GM and other car companies are driving their dealers to carry multiple lines like Bean in Doylestown. Davis Pontiac is gone for that reason.

It's too bad...it does hurt. We have 3 or 4 dealerships maybe going out here in the Lehigh Valley. One is a Ford dealer and the other 3 are GM dealers. I know what if feels like. My family and I had a dealership on Long Island and we went bankrupt in 1979. Hope the future improves and we see prosperity again.
I just noticed that the David Penske Chevy Dealer in King of Prussia is also Closed. It's weird to see the building & lot completely empty.
They hosted a local Corvette show each summer. I wonder if another dealer will pick up that show......
