Anyone thinking of going to Automania in Allentown? Might be a good place to get an auto fix during the winter months. I'm thinking of going up early Saturday.

I go every year...it's awesome, and the Farmers Market next door is to die for!

We are also interested in going to Automania on Saturday the 17th, which also happens to be my birthday. We have been there before for other events, but never this one. If anyone would like to join us at Zoto's Diner early for breakfast on Rt. 309 & Hilltown Pike, let us know and we can arrange a time to meet. THANKS.

Not too much information to be had on their web site...But I may just take a ride up there to see what's doing, looks like a nice idea thats not too far.

The Philly car show is at the end of this month. We always go there and Nancy enjoys it. Of course, being the nice guy I am, we also go to the flower show in March. :D As you know, what goes around comes around. ;jj

Did anyone make it to this thing???

Glenn, There were zero takers on caravaning, which does not surprise me. We knew meeting at Zoto's was pretty much out of the way for most people. But Dennis & I went Saturday and it was not what we were expecting. We did not see a single club member and pretty sure we would NOT go again.

Jacques and I took a ride up. It was all old car parts and stuff along those lines. It was still nice to get out on a cold day and see something car related.

We were out cruising and shopping Saturday, found ourselves in North Wales and decided to run further up route 309 a little further and rolled in the back way into the Fairgrounds. When we got to the entrance, we had a feeling it was NOT going to be good. I parked anyway, walked to the front entrance, looked in the front door and decided NOT to pay $14 ($7 ea.) to go insdie. It looked like a junk collectors feast, not for me.. There were no cars on display.

We took a walk through the Farmers Market then took a nice ride east to Easton and down 611 and 32 for a scenic ride home. It's good I enjoy taking rides for no apparent reason, otherwise that trip would have been a total waste. We still had a good time just cruising...
Someone posted the Farmer's Market was "to die for" I think they meant "to die from"
I know we won't have any good memories of the Farmer's Market either...

I went up Sunday and like Mark said, it was good to look at some car junk in the middle of the winter. I kind of know what to expect, as I go every year and always find something to hang in the garage. Not much else to do on a snowy, sloppy Sunday morning.

Exactly Glenn. More junk then one can imagine. And if I want to go to a Farmer's Market there is one closer in Quakertown (Q-Mart). Which I call the MONKEY MART. It's pretty bad when you come out of the place smelling like the monkeys at the zoo.
We are looking forward to the Atlantic City Car Show.

Hey Debbie
Take it easy on the Q-mart it's a class act!!! My wife drug me there Saturday night for vacum cleaner bags.
Norm
PS. My kids refer to the Q-mart as the Q-Fart. The Monkey Mart is what we used to call the old Montgomeryville Mart down at 463 and 309.

A Saturday night out looking for vac bags. What a wild time that must have been.

Saturday was a great day for plumbers but not for me. No water in home. Water pump pressure switch for my well broke and had to be replaced. Then no water at my rental unit. Water line froze. Didn't need no wild time after that...grin

I know this is a past event but for future reference.
Automania is an old car parts and auto memorabilia flea market and here's-some-junk-that-I've-had-sitting-around-so-why-not-take-it-and-see-if-someone-buys-it. And talking to old friends that have come out of the garage to see if they can find 2 screws that they misplaced. There is not much in the way of corvette parts. There were 2 fixer-uppers in the back room and 1 or 2 booths with a few parts. This is old car parts just like you find at Carlisle, Englishtown, Cowtown (I know it's not cowtown any more but those of us that go will always call it by its old name.) All of these places sell dirty old clean 'em up yourself car parts and tube socks. I've never figured out the tube socks. Atlantic City is clean parts and umbrellas. AC is fun too but don't you miss the tube socks and your eyes tearing from the exhaust fumes at the convention center on the boardwalk.
So if you don't mind the smell of rusting, oily, moth ball car parts (some of my friends are starting to smell like that) go and pick through the debris. Billie
