My idea is to create a "Preferred Shore Rental List" for use by our Club.
This list would highlight Shore Properties with Enclosed Garages that are available for Rent on the Boardwalk Show Weekend (Approx 3rd weekend in Sept).
I kept my car in a garage overnight and it was clean & dry on Sunday morning. Any car left outside on Sat night was dripping with dew.
Also, if there was a possibility of rain, I believe many people would not make the roundtrip drive on Sunday.
Since all of these properties would have "Enclosed Garages" I believe CCDV would have an even bigger turnout next year and it would allow folks to stay for a long weekend, possibly into Monday.
I made a few inquiries at work and came up with 5 property owners that are definitely interested (some in Ocean City, Sea Isle, & Wildwood). I know of several more & I'm sure other club members could add to the list.
I think it’s a good idea because:
a) many homes are not rented that time of year.
b) most Vette people are detail oriented, so a messy house is unlikely (good for the homeowner).
c) renters would be responsible mature adults (no college kids having wild parties).
d) driving down & back in one day is not easy in an older car, so we may get more vintage Vettes in the show.
e) renting a hotel room with no garage would cost approx $150-200 per night. I assume that's a fair rate for a home with a garage ( I need to investigate this a bit more).
I'd appreciate your feedback on this idea.
If the club members believe it's a worthwhile venture then I'll be happy to do some research and provide details at a future meeting.
