I got my pool from Anthony/Sylvan back in 1990 and I have been very happy with it. They have a referral program which gets me some kind of kick-back ($500 or something like that), so if you are considering them, please let me send in a referral form for you before you call them. I would share it with you!
Hi Carl..
Thanks, but we are already on their list from a bunch of our neighbors.
Who did your fence?

We used American Fence from the Jarretown/Ft Washington area, but they would not be as highly recommended as Anthony Pools. Ask a lot of questions of pool owners before you decide. There is a LOT to learn before making that decision. Anyone can shoot concrete, the plumbing underneath it all is what matters. There are many different ways to go, such as floor feeds to better circulate water, attached spas, automatic cleaners, chlorinators, Jandy valves, winter covers, coping, decking, tile, etc, etc, etc. Better to spend a little more and have a pool that's easy to maintain. I haven't had to vacuum my pool in 13 years thanks to an automatic cleaner, and that's the kind of summer workload you want! Also, ask a pool owner what they would have done different, and why, not just what they did. Enjoy the water!

I am pleased with how my pool held up, but wasn't pleased with the company who stuck it in, and it is a major one that people talk about, if you want I will respond privately. They sub-contract out labor and I doubt that they have green cards.
This was about 10 years ago and things were busy,,, what they did was to take your and everyone elses money and let you sit.
I gave them the first 3rd deposit and they came out right away,,,dug the hole and let it sit for a damned long time. This was from spring to almost fall.
The one smart thing I did was to stick Solar Heat on it. Several years ago tried to see how hot I could get it and got it up to 104.
My Anthony Sylvan pool is about 25 years old & it has held up well. I do need a new diving board & that is a problem. I'll call Sylvan in the spring about that. Most places won't touch diving boards or sliding boards (mine needs some cement work - it's a bit shaky.)
The township's dead tree fell on my steel fence, bending the spindles, & shook up the sliding board. They're going to fix the segment of fence (but accused me of loosening the adjacent section (???). I've been writing to them for 3 years about their dead trees.
A fence co. was recommended to me, and I got an estimate, but I can't recommend them personally.
My son does all the maintanence except for winterizing. You're welcome to come over to take a look & talk (Abington/Jenkintown area).
I would recommend a cabana if you can do it. It's really nice for company to have a place to change. The bathroom is very convenient & no wet feet traipsing through the house.
Norm, who did your solar panels? That is something I seriously want to look into.
Its funny...
EVERY person we've spoken to who has a pool, will NOT recommend their fence company!
Not a single one!
How do these firms stay in business?
We have talked to 11 people so far, mostly neighbors, and not a single one told us to use their fence company.
Pools, we have heard different things about different companies.
I will most likely get bids from Anthony Sylvan, Carlton, & Blue Haven.
I do have a question, maybe Pete Carroll or someone who knows can help.
Whats the difference between "shot-crete" & gunnite?
What should I get?
I was told shot-crete is certified for strength & mixed in a factory under controlled conditions for consistency, where gunnite is mixed as it comes out of the nozzle as its sprayed..
Not sure what to get...

Ellis, I just saw your notice. I had a great pool. It didn't have shot-crete or gunnite. It was a concrete, reinforced pool built by Star Penn. The fence company I used, and they were great was Fence City in Montgomeryville. The pool also had Marble Plaster coating and never needed painting. Star Penn and Rigorious Pool companies are both excellent and they were subcontractor's for Sylvan. My pool was 41' long by 29' free form, with 12' dp diving end. I'll e mail you a pic of it. Unfortunately I can't take you & show it to you since my "ex" owns it now. Any questions just call me.
Hello everyone,
I'm new here. And reading this post I have to laugh since, I couldn't recommend the fence company we used either. The pool company yes, but not the Fence company! But there is one called Tru-line fence Co . That I have heard nothing but good things about. Shame I didnt hear it earlier when we were looking for a fence.......They will come in install your fence in one day and bill you.
