You guys may want to say a small prayer for Mark tonight when you turn in. Mark is in the Shop (aka: hospital) for the night and will have a small procedure Wednesday morning to reduce some pain. We'll leave it at that, no need for the personal details.

I'm sure good thoughts and prayers can only help...

Get better soon Mark...

To everyone,

Thank you all for your kind words of support. This has been a terrible week for me and I've experienced pain on a level that I didn't think was humanly possible. The week included two trips to the emergence room at Holy Redeemer,a 3 day, 2 night stay and a small procedure under anesthesia. I was released just about a half hour ago and feel 100% better.

All of this fun was caused by a small (6mm) jagged piece of who knows what that lodged in my kidney, just above the bladder.

Best regards
Mark

Mark,

By the sounds of your experience, I had it easy...it passed naturally after about a day & only one trip to emergency room...you got the worse end of the deal. Afterwards, the doctor just recommended certain foods to stay away from in my diet.

They wanted me to try passing it but it got stuck. Luckily I insisted on being admitted when I did and having it removed. The longer a stone is stuck the more kidney and bladder damage you can have. A few more days and I'll be back to my normal self:D

Maybe I can be the speaker for next months meeting. I could put together a nice long power point presentation on kidney function and the removal of stones. Only problem is everyone would be extremely queasy by the end of the night.

Joe,

I've now had every legal pain killer there is. What's funny is I started off with some low level pain killers. The nurses at the hospital laughed at me when I told them I didn't need any narcotics. About 10 minutes later I was begging for them to hit me with everything.

I toughed it out through herniated discs and back surgery on nothing more than advil but this pain was way over the top and harder to get control of.

Besides, dont you remember some of Frank's famous lines, "I get no kick from cocaine" and my favorite "I've been stoned more times than American embassies around the world"

Hey Mark:
With the illness thing going for you & all these well wishes, maybe you should consider running for president of CCDV!?! Then you'd really know the meaning of PAIN!! But then you'd deny Ed from conquering his fifth term!! Oh well.

Joel,

You must be nuts, run for president of CCDV, and deprive everyone of Ed's great parakeet stories? I would never do that. Besides, I have a theory that just like the current Bush and his VP it's actually Jeff Hay that is running CCDV and Ed is the mouthpiece. Why do you think we rarely see them together:D
