I'll be heading out to Maple Grove to try some heads-up index racing on a pro tree this Sunday. The weather is looking good!
If anybody else wants to go let me know and we could head out together.
I'll probably be heading out around 7-7:30.

OK, it looks like a go. I'll talk to you tonight and we can decide on a meeting place. I'll bring a tq wrench and jack.
Anyone else interested, give me or Doug a call. We'll be meeting along the turnpike west bound.

Well, at least we got some good time trials in (as opposed to RP, hint, hint). 4 time shots and I went 2 rounds. Took out a Mustang and lost to a Malibu Wagon ;at, 12.495 on a 12.5 index. Pro tree was fun.
I like the track a lot, people were nice, nobody around that looked like they'd steal your stuff, bathroom was clean and it's closer for me. Cheeseburger was actually pretty good too. If RP keeps cutting our time shots down even when it's slow like last Saturday, I'll probably be spending more time at MG next year. Just because I'm not going to win doesn't mean I don't want to spend the DAY racing and learning.

how did this go doug?
I had a good time! Like Joe said we got 4 time (qualifying) runs. We probably would have had 2 more, but a car broke at the line and oiled the entire track after our first run. The gates open at 8:00 and runs start around 8:30 and you can make runs until 12:00. They break for lunch and eliminations get started at 1:00.
For me it was a blast. I got to race heads up on a pro tree in a 14.50 index!!!!!!!! Don't get that opportunity very often. I'll have to show you my time slip of my last run. It says that I lit the red bulb by -.083!!!! BUT, it looked like my opponent left the line first. He had me by a car length by the 60' mark. A faster 60', 330', 1/8th, 1000' and 1/4 mile time, but I caught him and crossed the line first with a 14.58 to his 14.3x. ;ce
I really hope they continue this series again next year. All the races are held on Sundays, so they will not interfere with the Corvette Challenge.;bt
I went to that one that got rained out. I got no time shot and the sun came out right after I left. Oh well. Sometimes it is good and sometimes it is bad.
I like the series concept. I heard there were like 50 at one of those races. How was it this last time?

There were about 60 to 70 cars there for the last event.
The 8.00 index had 10 cars if I remember correctly, and the 10.00 index had over 12 cars the next largest classes were the 12.0 and then the 15.5.

Doug, you may of rocked a bit on the starting line and caused the red light. I've done that a few times this year. Swear I wasn't moving but the car sure was. I dropped my launch rpm down a bit and raised my rear tire pressure and it took care of the issue. I guess you're still deep staging? If you are my guess is that your lights are about the same on either tree (pro or sportsman). I wanted to hit this event but got rained out for the first one and decided to travel to RP for the import thing. Grove is a good track. Maybe I'll see you and Joe there for some bracket races next year.

Nice to see you checking in, haven't seen nor heard from you in a while. Hope to see you soon, and don't hesitate to let us know when you're going, you may get some company.

Yep, I'm still deep staging. I'm using your advice of bringing my RPMs up before staging and then roll-in straight to deep. And yes, my lights are the same.
I think in that elimination run I may have rolled-in too deep (almost to the point off fouling out) and that the slightest movement tripped the beam. How else could one get a -.083 red light on a pro tree if only reacting to the yellow lights. I was not anticipating the lights, I'm not that good.
