View Full Version : O2 Sensor Extensions with Headers... HELP!

So I did all of this reading and boy did I think I had everything addressed to get my project done this weekend... silly me.

I installed LG Z06 LT headers, Z06 mufflers, an Elite Engineering 3/8" tunnel plate with thermal blanket and Pipedreams NPP in a Box kit to control the mufflers on my 2006 Convertible. Everything was going along without much trouble, taking a long time, but I was being very careful and I'd never done this before so that wasn't a huge surprise. However on Saturday I ran up against what seem like far-too-short extensions on the O2 sensors.

Since I am putting a Z06 setup on a standard C6 I wondered if perhaps the extensions needed to be longer for the front because the connectors on the LS2 are in a different spot, but the answer I'm getting from LG is less-than-clear. They're going to send out longer extensions, but since I didn't get anything cut & dry from them I thought I'd ask here from folks that might have experience with headers on a C6. Tips on the wire runs, the easiest way to get everything connected up, etc. The Elite tunnel plate does have the holes to run the wires on it's top side, but it seems like you'd have to connect everything first and then screw-in the sensors.. which would just twist up the wires. ;ae

Help, advice, commiseration.... all would be appreciated, thanks!

I do remember on my C5 I had to run extension cables for the O2 sensors since the LG setup had them much further back than OEM. I believe I actually had to extend the front O2 sensors, the rears were ok.

This was on my C5 so I'd guess it could be different on a C6.

Do you have 4 O2 sensors on your C6? The C5 had sensors before and aft of the cats. The rears do nothing more than tell you if the cats are doing their job. They can be written out of the program and done away with altogether.

Yeah, the setup is the same on C6 as C5, and at this point the fronts are a much great concern to me than the rears because of exactly what you mention there. My real reason for asking the question here is to try to determine what the problem is... the length of the extensions provided (Z06 vs C6 being a possible issue) or my installation.

Thanks

Burning the candles at as many ends as I can manage at this point, but I think this might go a long way towards solving my problems.

Just to update, I did get the install finished on Saturday. LG sent me longer front extensions which made the process simple. The driver's side rear was pretty easy, but the passenger side was something of a pain. Once I got it unclipped from the stock position it was doable, but still a tough reach to get to the clip and connect the extension.

The system is just killer, love it!
