My son and I are going to look at an 85 coupe (4+3) with 40 k miles.

What should we look for as problem areas and value of a car in well maintained condition.

Run away. The 4 + 3 is a disaster. Better to move up a couple of years.

Mark's right!! The 4+3 was a problem. Even with low miles it could have problems. Debbie I know you don't go on www.CorvetteForum.com but it's worth asking this question there also. There are a ton of guys/girls that know C4s and may also have some input.

Dennis I would also ask Steve, at Bryner, I just spent some time in the C4 section of CF and it seems the OD unit is the main problem.

I've heard alot of BAD things about the 4+3 Dennis.
Like Bill says, Go on the CF, C4 section and ask their opinion. I'm sure you will get quite a bit of feedback.

Dennis and Debbie, I had an 85 and i think it was faster than my 89. It had a 4 + 3 and It worked fine. Neat Trans actually. it is a seven speed with 1st gear and Regular and overdrive in 2-4th. My 85 had 78K miles and worked flawlessly.
