I put new inner and outer wheel bearings on my 70 this weekend and I'm not getting a warm fuzzy feeling. Before I started, I checked the endplay (no dial indicator) and did not notice any appreciable movement. So I decided to reassemble using the existing spacers. Pressing out the spindle, pressing out the bearing, pressing on the bearings and all reassembly was uneventful. I may have over packed the bearings with grease, and that may come into play later. After torque the spindle nut to the specified 100lbs, I back off the nut to the next available cotter pin opening. Now when I try to spin the wheel I takes a lot of force to turn it. I attached a torque wrench to the hub and measured 10lbs required to turn the wheel (no half shaft attached). I went to the other side and attached a torque wrench. 5lbs (with half shaft, differential and drive shaft attached).
What did I do wrong?
