The bad news first. Ellis and I went out in the first round of the Top 16. Ellis spun bad at the line and never recovered. I had to run John Panuzzo. He had redlighted on his last time shot by .001. I also relighted on my last time shot by .001.Well I treed John and he never caught me, and at the top end I got off it just after the mph light but it wasn't enough as I ran a 13.317 on a 13.32 dial in. I broke out by .003. Good racing all day in spite of the first round lose's. El, Joe S. and myself were running the Trophy Marathon and after 2 runs in Elims I decided to pack it away. Joe won 2 races and El won 4 going on to win the King of the track again. Quite a performance from El this year. Thanks go to our Pres Bill and son for rooting us on the whole day. Lee Sofer, Ken Lynch also were on hand to give us cheers. Glenn Murphy ran time trials but I'll let him tell ya'll how he did. Great season of racing!

Ellis, You are the MAN :D
Tony, Sorry to hear you had to pack it in. Thats Racing.
Better luck next year.
I was going to come this morning, but a much needed tune up on Arleens 60 took top priority.
You guys certainly had GREAT weather for racing,
Tomorrow is going to be the same.

Well Congrats of course to "King of the Track, Ellis";bc and I have to say thanks to ALL of you that made my first day at the track alot of fun.
Without all you guys it would not have been even ¼ of the fun.

My sincere thanks to: Pres Bill & his son Andrew (who were there to give me high fives and support after every one of my runs), Tony for his great advice all day (also there after every run with tons of support and handshakes) Rose, for all the support from the stands and great positive attitude that is very, very contagious, Joe S for all the encouragement and good tips all day, Ellis for the tips and encouragement and for pushing me to get me out there just about for the last, oh 4 months or so, and last but not least for Lee and his tips and encouragement.

Special thanks to Tony & Rose for bringing me a set of D/R's of theirs to use. WOW, what a diifference they make. :D

All in all, I had a ball and it was because of all you guys! ;bt

Tony; I didn't want to sound like I was saying "Hey look what I did" I have alot more to learn.
I did feel like I had a good first time. But plenty of room to improve.
Here are my results from today (Saturday 11/22/03):
First 3 on my Street tires
1st pass: 14.511 (Traction Control ON)
2nd pass: 14.280
3rd pass: 14.080
Lots of wheel spin and slow R/T (well it was my first shot at this)
Now with Tony's D/R's
4th pass: 13.155 (I gotta get me a set of those D/R's) :D
5th pass: 12.977
6th pass: 13.212

I was shocked at the difference when the Drag Radials went on.
I gotta learn the launch and the tree. I'll be back.

Would have never improved like I did today without all you guys coaching me. If I was alone, I would have either left after 3 runs or I would have been driving home on my rims had I keep spinning my streets pass after pass. :D

Thanks to all the CCDV racers for a successful year. Challenge Club Trophy and a bunch of personal bests!!! Glenn you had a spectacular day ...starting at 14.5 and a best of 12.9... You cut 1.5 seconds off you first run. I know that you'll be back for more next year by the big smile you had after your 12.9 pass. Now on to Ellis....or rather KING ELLIS!!! El both you and you car are so consistent, congratulations on your winning season. Two trophy marathon king of the hill wins in a row!!! Tony and Rose thanks for running this event and all the tire changing and storage and hauling. Lee, Edgar, Joe , Mike W, Mike C. , Al, Vince, I know that the season didn't end like you wanted, but thanks for helping new racers and your support from the stands. For those who haven't been to a Corvette Challenge event come out next year and see how great this group of racers are. CCDV racers rule !!!!!!! Thanks to all of you for the entertainment this race season... Bill

PS. I'll let Ellis tell you about his day but the final race was sooooo close...Ellis's opponent had a 6 second head start!!!!! El you da man!!

Ok Bill here goes....

First off, thanks to Tony & Rose for helping us ALL season long & bringing up our tires, the jack etc....

And hey Ken, thanks bro for the really nice picture!!!

Glenn, I told you you'd like it. Practice will you get you better on the tree, and the more you run, the better you will know your car's ET.

Yes, I did it again! I am suprised I have been doing so well lately, but owe alot of it to Tony who really got me started by taking the time to explain things to me at Atco in 2002, and also Edgar who shares his experience & offers his advice as well...

Yea, after cutting all .0xx lights in time runs & .5xx in Trophy Marathon time runs, I was dialed in & running right on it, only to
"spin" big time at the line in the money race, cutting a .198 (.698)
light. Even though I ran a 12.19 on a 12.14 dial, that was not enough, and that equalled my frustration of my many 2002 1st round losses.. Uggggg. My 60' time was way off, so trust me, it was big time spin, not being lazy at the line... Oh well..

In the TM I went 4-0 running my dial dead on 3 times.
In the King of the Hill I continued to run it out at all cost, running slightly faster each round & lowering the set dial in.

In the final my opponent dialed a 18.58 to my 12.07.

My fear was that I'd be waiting 6.5 seconds at the line, and either I get itchy & go red, or fall asleep & cut a real lazy light.

Knowing this, I stayed focused and tried not to press it, cutting a safe .587 light while running a dead on 12.070 on my 12.07 dial for the win!

Nice to see Bill, Andrew & Glenn in the lanes at the end!

I appreciate you guys hanging around!

Looking forward to next season with Glenn & maybe even Bill joining us!

Sere you all LATER!!!! ;bc

El, congrats on winning the crown again. I know you really wanted that top 16 title and cash but finishing the season on this note has to feel good. I wish I could have stayed, but we had reservations for a very special birthday dinner.

Glenn, you did fantastic on your first time out and I am so glad I got to see it first hand. To see your runs improve on each pass was amazing... Not to mention breaking 13 seconds on your first time out!

Again, thanks to all the members who showed their support, it really makes a world of difference.
