Just a quick question for anyone with some thoughts. I own a 1981 Vette with only 6,000 original miles. I am considering having her painted, but have some concerns if this may hurt her value since she is all original (including original tires). Should I move forward with new paint (same color) to refresh her look? There are a few spots that could use some minor touch up from age. If so, any recommendations on local paint and body shops? I live in the Jamison PA area.

Thank you!

Jeff:
A Vette is only original once! Repaint it & the term no longer applies. If the paint is decent, leave it as is. If it is hurting the appearance then first consider a partial paint job if that will work. I would highly recommed you consider taking the Vette to Dennis Winokur at Alan's Collision Center in N/E Philly. He'll give you an honest opinion and if you decide to do ANY paint, his shop is FANTASTIC!! 215-677-7773.

Whew, I don't think I'd paint it unless it is pretty bad. Sounds like a Bloomington Survivor to me !! 6000 miles. I would consider this decision very carefully as I think it will reduce the value if painted.

Thank you for the advice. This is why I have a dilemma. There is a small area on the hood that could use some touch up from my recent move across the country. It was moved in a closed carrier, but somehow it was scratched. maybe, I can just have that area touched up.

I need to give this some serious thought. You were both very helpful.

I live in Warrington stop by and I'll look at it to see if some of the marks can be buffed out. Bill

Thanks Bill. I would appreciate someone's expert opinion. We are most probably close as I am in Jamison. When you say stop by, where do you mean? Jeff

I agree with Bob and joel.
It will only be ORIGINAL once.
