I just purchased my first vette and I am worried about stone chips on the front end, told not to use a bra, but wondering if anyone had ideas of what to do or what to use. Would appreciate any thoughts or ideas, thanks!

I've used a bra for years on my '99 FRC (pictured below) and my front bumper looks pretty good. I started using a bra four years ago after I had my bumper repainted, because of scrapes and stone chips. I wanted to protect the front bumper I just had repaired and painted. I too have been told not to use a bra, many times, usually by people who drive cars that haven't been polished since Bill Clinton left office. What they aren't aware of is that you should take the bra off after each time you drive it. Then you can make sure you wash away the road dust and any water (if you got caught in the rain). Also be sure to get the bra clean. The other alternative is a 3M clear static cling that you leave on all the time. It costs about five times what a bra costs. As far as what brand, I've been happy with the GM bra. It's available at any GM dealer and at a Club member discount at Bryner Chevrolet.

Steve, you can use 3M Paint Protection Film. It is clear urethane with a layer of flexible clar urethane. They make specific kits for just about any vehicle. I go on to a site called WWW.X-PEL.com. Do NOT order the film from them, use the site to locate and get price. For more info on why you can pm me. I am a certified installer which means I can install and include the 5 yr. Warranty on the product. Care of the film is easy and protects like nothing else. This film is used on Nascar vehicles. Some members in our Club have this protection, although there are a few other manufacturers of film. These do NOT have the flexible clear urethane like 3M. Can give me a shout at 215-778-4722, vince
