hey thanx, my car also runs about 198 or so when i drive it. but when i slow down after runn'n it, she heats up to about 220. what is the normal running temp. for these cars? you said yours runs about 200-210. is that normal for a vette?
My '95 runs at 194-200 while driving depending on the load. At idle in the summer heat it can get to 230 before it starts coming back down. The fans kick into high at about 225, so the extra 5 deg. is soak before the increased airflow takes effect.
So far I've had no problems, other than being a little nervous when the gauge gets up that high.
I'm told GM did this for emissions purposes.
I put in a new water pump last winter and it came with a 180 deg. thermostat and all along I thought stock was 195 because that's where the car runs most of the time. Go figure.

My 84 runs at about 185 to 195 on the road and while stoped about 220. So thats not too bad for what you have.
