What do you guys recommend to remove swirl marks? I have my vette in a heated garage this winter and the florescent lights seem to bring out swirl marks that are undetectable in outdoor lighting conditions.

A good buffer like the Porter Cable and with Zaino use Z-PC or Z-AIO, followed by Z-5, you can use 3M Scratch & Swirl Remover or Menzerna polishes too, followed by your favorite wax. After swirls are gone make sure your towels and wash mitts are in good shape and good quality, these things will help keep the swirls away for a long time.

What is Z-PC? Also do you think that would work by hand? Compounded a car back in my day with a buffer once and the results were not to cool. I've steered away from buffers ever since.

Norm a random orbit buffer and foam pads will not harm the paint. ZPC is a very fine cleaner and I have used it on dark color cars and it's great.

Not to sound stupid but what is ZPC... a Zaino product?

Hey Norm, swirls are definitely a problem and in my years of detailing: they don't go away. You can "fill them in" or cover them up, but they don't go away. Chances are someone used a wool pad and now the clear has the swirls burned in. Depending on the severity of the swirls, I would compound on slow speed using a foam polishing pad with 3M microfinishing compound and then follow with Ardex Seal B, final stage to use whatever wax by hand you prefer. Swirls are easy to put in a vehicle and take a lot of time and finesse to get out. Some cars I've had to wet sand and start from scratch. NOT A LOT OF FUN!!! I would be more than happy to check it out as I am a little slow right now. Give me a ring or email: 215-778-4722, be more than happy to lend a hand.

Hey guys: Carl and Bill, not to always be giving out advice without using your products but do you guys think that possibly we could join forces with Zaino?
Dale at Berrel has been in touch with Sal about using his products and quite frankly I have Never used them and don't know anything about them. A possible solution could be a training seminar? Just a thought. Thanks, vince

If you remove the factory swirl marks, 20 years from now some NCRS judge will deduct 20 points from your car for having paint that's too nice.

Norm, if you do not want to get into buffing contact Bill B. Z-PC is as follows.

http://www.zainostore.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=Z-PC

Can be used by hand on scratches, but if doing the whole car it's best when applied by a buffer like a Porter Cable or a Flex. :)

Swirl Marks !! In the old days I used to polish the car and then use a no grit wax. Apply the wax to a very small area and then while wet dust it with cornstarch. this was so fine it took out swirls but left no marks. Worked great on black paint which is near impossible. But this is "old" technology.

Good luck !!

That's an old post problem long solved. Last winter I ended up buying a Porter Cable buffer and ZPC. Thanks all for your help.

Do we still have the squiggly security number that needs to be copied when registering onto our website? If we do, this must mean that this spammer is registering manually and not computer registering. It doesn't bother me as much as fascinates me that somebody would take time out of their life for such nonsense. I guess if they weren't doing this they'd be asking people "Do you want an apple pie with that?"

Good one to revive anyway for those of us with black cars!
