I am go'n nuts here. As you can see from my previous post, I have an 86. I am completly stumped!! It keeps overheating. I mentioned some of this in my last post.. but i will go into detail on my problem.

First off I changed the water pump, head gaskets, took out thermostat, and nothing is glogged. the heater core, and radiator are free of dirt and grime. So there are no blocked water ports or anything. My fan works good. it doesn't kick on till around 203 deg. My car will run about 205-211 while at iddle. when i step on it, it over heats at around 220.

If anyone has any ideas, or had a similar problem, i'll take any info, even if it's far fetched. I just can't figure this out.
thanx, dan

Try checking the O2 sensor ;)

Not sure but I think a bad O2 sensor would throw a check engine soon light. Have you checked your water temp with another gauge that you know to be good?

Corvette66,

On my 96, the temp. guage would hit between 220 to 230. This started after I purchased the car (1/02 134K). The temp would lower to 196 when I was on the highway (rt. 476). I checked for leaks on the floor of the garge and did not have anything.

But upon further inspection, the lower collar (where the lower rubber hose connects) on the radiator had a small crack. The end of the radiator are plastic.

The radiator was replaced and I belive the temp now is around 200-210.

I also have a 90 but I have not encounted any overheating issues.

Also, check the C4 forums on corvetteforum.com and www.corvetteactioncenter.com.

Please let me know how you make out.

Good luck!

Ps. I hope this issue does not drive you crazy... ;ce
