Well, I gave it my best shot but Chris Young once again held on to his 1 point lead. They were pairing cars going into round one and Chris' opponent backed out after the burnout box giving Chris an automatic win since they could not call the next car in line.

The heat was now on me more than ever. I got paired up against a race modified C3 running high 10's who was not in the points race. Leaving over 2 seconds before him I cut a half decent .050 light and headed down the track. Checked my mirrors at the 330', the 1000', but his car never got any bigger. I hit the brakes and walked her home.

In round 2 I hear on the radio that Chris goes red with a -.006! I've got a shot, all I have to do is one more round and I take Rookie of the Year for good. I got paired with a car that will leave .5 second before me. I still have no idea how it happened, but I red lighted.

Oh well, those are the brakes. I asked Mackey if we could do a head to head race, but it never happened. I guess I can't blame them. Congrats to Chris for holding me off one more time, it really was a tight race to the finish.

BTW, Edgar took first place over Joe Blass today. And Joe wins the 2003 series. Congrats to them as well.

Joe, great driving and dialing in all year. El was our Rookie of the year last year and you are our Rookie of the year this year, so if that's any indicaton of where you'll be next year, you will only get better. :D

Congrats on one great season!

Joe you did a great job this year especially in the beginning without the hardtop.

You hung with a very good racer.

Joe:

Congrats on a GREAT season for sure!
You did exceptionally well bro!

May I make some suggestions to you?

LOCAL TOP MECHANIC. Do you really think with ALL the race cars he's worked on that your problems will be unique to him?

If cost is an issue when it comes to fixing your car, don't get it fixed, don't race it, or get another car.

Top mechanics get top dollar because they are the best & do the best work.

Your car should have nothing less than the best.

You have proven that you are a teriffic racer with tons of potential! Don't let your mechanical issues hold you back if your goal is to continue to race & improve.

I know its frustrating. My car was down for a month & I missed 2 events last summer for something that should have taken 1 week.

Deceide who your mechanic or shop will be & get married to them.

Remember. Key word...> Consistency....

Don't bounce your car all over.
Take it to one shop that you trust & have confidence in.

(I'm ready to drop now......)

Again, congrats on your season.
Don't sweat your car......You'll get it together....!

To Joe,
You are the model of consistency, even with a balky engine. Your dial-ins are right-on every time, which means you know your car better than anyone. I hope to achieve that feeling some day, but for the time being, I'll feel, along with all the other CCDV racers, that you are our Rookie Of The Year!

To Edgar,
Everyone knows you as the man to beat at the staging line-and you deserve that recognition more than anybody I know. But I also know you as a fellow racer, who willingly helps the extremely challenged neophyte understand his car and become a better racer for it. As busy as you were yesterday running two (three?) events, you explained to me the finer points about R/T and E/T, and how I could improve my overall time and technique. Altho I did manage to run a 12.24, I know that I can do better thanks to you.

To Tony,
Since I don't run as often you would like me to, can I be the designated Rookie for next year! LOL

Way to go Joe! You had a great year as far as I saw. Improving every time out. I went along with you guys in late June and from what I saw that day compared to now, you really got your act together.
Very impressive man! ;bc ;bc ;bc

Holy cow Joe!! The way you talk you'd think you were Rodney Dangerfield ! No respect!! :D You had a great year, and since your car is not in a shambles.... you gave it your best shot. I think you did pretty well with a broken car, a missing engine and hardly any experience. ;jj Congrats buddy!

I expect big things for Joe next season! ;yn

Just remember, gotta learn to walk before you can run with the big dogs.

It doesn't happen overnight..

These guys have years of experience & tons more runs than we'll ever have, so be patient. You're on your way for sure! ;yn

Pure luck dude? Don't be so humble. You are a "Natural Born Killer".

You did well at every race in your first year last year and this have not lost a first round. Dude, only one of the top four have done that!!!!!

Not to mention, I am 0-4(5?) agianst you!

Thanks for the kind words El , but no luck was involved. You were cutting great lights all day, your car was running very, very consistent. You were the odds on favorite in my book. :D
