This Sat/Sun Nov 1st & 2nd is the Punkin Chunkin World competetion in Lower Slower Delaware, about 150 miles south of Phila. We went to it last year, its a blast. People design build and transport 2 story high catapults, 70 foot air cannons, trebuchets from as far as Indiana to Delaware, to see how far they can shoot or hurl a 12 lb. pumpkin. They are close to a mile. This time of year there's not much to do, so how can you miss this! It's a nice ride too Route 1 Delaware. One drawback, for Corvettes, they make you park in a field, not too cool. I'm taking the Family car for this reason. If you decide to go look for me I'll be the guy sitting in a red folding chair laughing my butt off. For more info check out their Web site

Also this time of year Hotels should be pretty cheap, not much else going on down there.

I caught this contest on TV once. It's hilarious to see what people have come up with. But I think TV is as close as I'd want to get to that bunch. :D

My wife and I lived in slower-lower del. for 5 years the late 1980s when the whole thing got started and it was just a bunch of us guys letting off steam at the end of summer and loving the fact of getting our roads back from the tourist. We all had a great time until the local goverment got involved and said we needed permits and ins. It has grown a lot since then. We still go for the fun of it though. If you go say hello to Larry and that Ron & Ethel Taylor said hello.
