View Full Version : 1962 roadster
A frienf of mine has a 62 and he found on the internet - a complete power window setup including door panels. Are there numbers on the car that
say the vette came with or without power windows. All his numbers match and he's curious if the numbers show it didn't come thru with power windows.

I don't believe the s/n will tell you if it came thru with P/W, I don't think so. If he really needs to know you can contact the Nat'l Corvette Musuem and buy a build sheet for that particular car. I assume they go back that far.
Maybe I didn't ask right but are there numbers on the car somewhere - other than the builkd sheet on the window -that will show it did or did not have power windows

I've never heard of numbers on the car indicating the type of options. I would imagine that the best way to determine if the the car had power windows at one time would be to buy a build sheet (if available) or look for tell tale signs, like do the door panels look original. The hand crank and power button would require a different set up (I assume). After removing the panel does the regulater look original. Are there marks on the holes that would have supported the window motor. Lastly follow the wiring back there must have been a wiring harness to the motor and switch. It's possible that someone may have done a expert job in removing the motor, wiring and replace the panel and mechanicals to convert it to a manual hand crank but that seems stupid, if he had that much energy, momney and time why not simply repair the motor or switch. Cheaper, easier, and who wants to crank anyhow? My guess is that it never had P/W.

Options and codes for a 1962 Corvette
The original build sheet is the most reliable source for what the car was built with. The VIN will NOT indicate all the options the car came with.
