About 4 - 6 weeks ago, Sean @ the Vette Shop gave me an estimate of $2,400 installed for TPS ceramic coated long tube headers for my '03 C5. The price was net of taxes, but included the headers, Random Tech high-flow cats, etc.

Today, I called again, since I am now ready to schedule the job and found that his price jumped by about $1K!!!

I like Sean and am a regular customer. Needless to say, I am shocked by that kind of jump. I am now re-thinking my strategy

My dilemma is that I want to add the headers, but this kind of pricing seems on the high side.

Any recommendations??

Help!

East Coast Supercharging (http://www.eastcoastsupercharging.com/)

Ask for Chris..

Also, get a price on either LG Pro long tube headers (http://www.lgmotorsports.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=342_278_332&products_id=932)or American Racing Headers (http://www.americanracingheaders.com/homepage.htm).... I have seen the American Racing headers on a couple C6's and have personally driven a C6 with them and was impressed with the fit and performance.

I have the LG's on my C5 and have no complaints whatsoever.

If your headers are 304 Stainless there is no need for the ceramic coating.

LG's and American Racing are 304 SS

The 2 cars pictured below have the above mentioned headers.
Electron Blue C5 - LG Pro Long Tubes
Machine Silver C6 - American Racing Long Tubes

I would get LG headers personally, they offer the best bang for the buck, call Berrel Auto at 215-675-8515 or
JD's 215-938-9270, they will take care of you, both can dyno tune your car at the same time.

I actually had my LG's and tune done at JD's and I would highly recommend them, BUT I have heard from more than one source that Joe is shying away from performance work these days....

If JD's is still doing performance work, I would highly recommend them. They did a great job with my car and took care of it like it was their own.... I came to their shop unexpectedly while my car was there 2 years ago. I walked in and my car was safely tucked away in a corner spot with a cover over it. That sure beat having it dumped out in the back lot...

joe and pat: I just had Dale at Berrel Auto install the LG Longtube headers, x-pipe, new plugs, heat shield, new wires and the Corsa Touring exhaust. Also did some dyno pulls pre and post along with EFI Live tuning. This was done on a 2003 vette, 6 spd. Put down 368 at the rear wheels. Other mods were done previously: 160 t'stat, air intake. Not too shabby. Sean at the Vette shop, Dale at Berrel, and Joe at JD'S are all excellent.. Quality workmanship does not come cheap. The fact that these guys are reputable, and will stand behind their work is a plus. I can't tell you how many customers of theirs have vehicles from some other hacks at cheaper prices that only wind up in their shops in the end...ALOT. Pay for it once and have it done right. I personally don't let just anyone work on my car, but any one of these technicians are capable. You can call me for more info...215-778-4722. vince

Here's a link to the LG site. Notice the pricing on the headers. They have headers with CATS starting at $1195.00. Even if installation was $500 you'd still be way under what you were quoted.

Give Dale @ Berrel Auto a call. Just picked my car up today. Dale rebuilt my motor. He did an AWESOME job. The numbers he got out of the new engine are insane. We had a real problem when we started. If it wasn't for Dale's years of experience and incredible knowledge we would have had a major catastrophe on our hands. He is THE MAN. He knows what to do, how to do it, and how to get the best results. He is a little more expensive, but it's the results that matter. As Carl and Vince said, give him a call.
