Was there anyone in the parking area and happen to see who hit my 75 Corvette. I was parked next to the access road to the show.

Dennis,
Holy Crap! Luckily it's only paint and not worse.

I'm sure that if anyone in the Club saw that happen they would have chased the culprit down.
Like Mark said, it could have been worse.

Second to George's comment. I think maybe we need to separate craft people from Corvette people in parking area. That would be my guess.
Cavalcade attendees!
Go through your photos & see if you may have taken a shot of Dennis's car.
Possibly the cars parked adjacent can be identified.

That could very well be Dave's '79? It's a dark blue very high point original NCRS type show car. Off hand I don't positively remember his last name (maybe Landis?) but his Vette has been in past Cavalcades. I doubt very much that he was the culprit.

Dennis whoever hit you left no paint behind, your rubber bumper is scraped clean. I'd be willing to bet whoever did it had a chrome bumper which eliminates about 90% of the Corvettes.:(

When I came home after attending the show I backed my car right into my garage and went about my business for the rest of the day.
This morning when I pulled my car out of the garage I found that my two front center caps were pried off!
You wouldn't think these things would happen up this way.

Doug, Sorry to hear about your cars center caps. I guess we need security cameras next year. The people who did this were real jerks (that's putting it nicely) with no respect for others. Unfortunately, it puts trying to sell our car on hold until it is fixed.
John T., You have 2 volunteers for next years Parking Lot Security for next years show.

I hate hearing stuff like this. I left my hood up and trunk open all day while I worked and enjoyed the show. I never even thought to check if all my engine dress-up was still there when I left. Guess I won't be leaving the car unattended like that in the future. There's always someone around to spoil things.

Doug and Debbie & Dennis - when we started planning this show, we didn't feel security was a necessity. This puts a damper on an otherwise special event:( . I do not understand people and their lack of respect for other people's property!
I guess we will have a security team watching over ALL the cars to protect somone from tarnishing our event!

All we need is a cherry picker with a lawn chair in it and Bill B. in the chair. Maybe a good pair of binoculars.

Maybe we should move the Cavalcade into Philly. I'm sure all the Vettes would be safe there!! Just goes to show, not all people care about other people's property. Like Hatboro, you gotta keep a eye out or risk having a problem. Besides, we did have parking troops out there. Why no one saw or heard anything is strange!

Weren't you parked on the very end row with the side that got damaged facing out in one of the most visable spots in the entire lot? Someone would almost have to seen it get hit and the guy or gal who swiped the center camps had to do it right in fromt of others walking by.
I think everyone needs to play a role in being in security next year being on the lookout for that sort of stuff.

I would be willing to bet it's young boys taking the valve stem caps. I've heard of these things getting swiped before and it always seems as if they only take 2 not 4.Think about it when you were 9 yrs. old wouldn't it be great to have Corvette valve stem covers on your bike? Just a guess.

The only thing that surprises me about any of this is that anyone is surprised by it. I've found marks on my car where people have hit it in parking lots. And I've parked in lots maybe 4 times in 2.5 years. Someone grabbed a couple of Bill B's valve stem caps, etc. Unfortunately this is the world we live in. Why do you think I set up my tent right behind my car. That way there was always someone nearby. I've thought about just putting the tent over the car and roping it off. I used to bring a 1/18th scale model of my car to shows. I saw one guy had it in his hands at a show last year. When I came up and asked him what he was doing he said he was just looking at it. It had been sitting on the middle of my dashboard so he had to reach in and pull it out. Of course he wasn't just looking at it, he was looking around to see if anyone was watching.
This is why some people stopped bringing their cars out to shows anymore. Hatboro is a good example of a show out of control. It's just too crowded. Walking it is a hassle let alone having your car there.

My car wasn't hit. I was parked in the same row as Dennis, and my Vette was actually sticking out further than all the other Vettes in the row. The way I was parked my Vette was more likely top be hit.
I worked parking for about 1 1/2 hours. I didn't notice anyone that got anywhere near enough to hit any of the Vettes. While working parking I spent most of my time parking Vettes, making sure I didn't get hit, and thanking everyone that left for coming. I did notice from time to time that lots of people were checking out the Vettes that were not in the show. Quite a few people stopped to take a closer look at my Vette. I don't know why. Maybe it was because it was so filthy. It still had brake dust down both sides of the car from last weekend, and all the rubber from my drag radials on both back 1/4 panels.

Just an observation.
When I worked parking at the Grange we had an area roped off just for Vette parking. In that area there were always two guys parking Vettes. No other cars, truck, SUVs, etc. were allowed in that area.
That would seem to be a simple and inexpensive way to handle future problems.

Rick,
The crafters had nothing to do with it, actually they were parked behind the building hundreds of feet away. The area where the car was parked was, I believe, where the VIP parking was located which was mainly Corvettes. Dougs and Dennis's cars were both parked in this area. We provide this area especially for this reason, so they are more secure.
It is unfortunite these types of things happen, if the Go Cart vendor comes next year as he said he will we can use one of his carts for security purposes with a yellow flashing light and have one hour shifts driving through all areas. It may discourage some of the kids. I will talk to him before next years event.

As said it's bad when things like this happen, but with all the driving I do and customers I see this happens way too often, many drivers just do not care about other people's property. :(

My worst happening was at Nifty 50's on Street Rd. We were there several years ago for a CCDV breakfast & cruise. I come out of the restaurant just to see some little kid throwing stones in the parking lot AT THE CARS! His brain dead mother was right there, totally oblivious to the whole thing. When I asked her if she realized that a paint job costs thousands of dollars, she just got in her beater & took off. I later found a small chip on the side of the '76 that I'm sure was caused by her little bastard!

Dennis, I was on parking duty from 1:30pm to 3pm and did not see any unusual activity along the access road aisle. While I was stationed just in the grass of the entrance area, nothing caught my eye. It was quite busy during that time with traffic coming and going. Perhaps a separate area for "Vette parking" would help to prevent this in the future. This of course assumes that fellow Vette owners would take responsibility for their actions. Unfortunately like Mark points out, it seems that type of person is a dying breed nowadays.

Boy, sounds like we have been having problems lately.....I designate Bill Burkholder security man! So Bill make sure you go to Marksmen night every night to practice. No need to do serious damage, just take a limb. It's pretty crappy this happens, but I'm learning there are a lot of scum in society. Always protect what is yours and lend your eye to your fellow brothers and sisters. Your family always has your back.
