1986 headlights

The right head light rolls into position and works normally. The left head light does not. If it is manually rolled out with the lights off, it rolls closed when you turn the lights on. Please advise. Thanks, GARY :)

I'm strictly going on a hunch here and assuming that all c4's have about the same electrics for the headlight door motors.
It sounds to me like the relay that controls the left door has its contacts stuck in the "door close"position.
I will check my manual tonight to see if I'm way off base or not.
