Has anyone with a C3 come up with a good place to mount an auxillary xm receiver (I use the Roady XT in several vehicles, at home and in the boat) without screwing up the original interior by drilling holes etc? Need information on the type of mount used....location....wiring....etc?
Thanks

is there enough room for it to fit under the driver's seat?

Behind the pass side dash
In one of stoage compartments in the rear
Under the console or behind the center stack

Thanks for the quick reply, but have to have it in front of me somewhere as it's also the tuner to select the xm station I'm listening to. In my truck.....I have it mounted in the forward cupholder with a flexible cell phone type mount. Believe that mount was made by pro fit or ultimount. Haven't found a universal mount that's quite right for the C3 though. Even worse.....I've got to also deal with the satellite radio antenna and figure out where that should go........guess that's why we call it a hobby!.......there's always something.

Sorry about that. The three XM radios I've installed for friends all had a small screen and a remote control.

That is a thought....I use the remote when I have the thing plugged in at home.......could do it that way, but as I get to thinking about it, I wonder if I could use one of those windshield suction mount things like the gps units use. Could probably tuck it up around the rear view somewhere and not lose too much vision area while still being able to view and change the channels. Think I'll have time to ponder that question on my way up to Becky's this weekend.
Thanks again.

It's funny you brought up this topic. I have Sirius radio. I finally gave up on the Delco Bose radio but didn't want to booger up the dash. I bought a new Panasonic radio removed the Bose speakers installed Infinity speakers connected them and the Sirius reciever to the Panasonic. Stuffed everything into the storage compartment behind the seats. The only issue I have not been able to resolve is where to place the antenna. I've got a C4 convertible and the mount has a magnetic base. Lots of luck finding metal on a C4

I have yet to mount a sirius antenna on metal. So far I have installed 5 systems in different cars and have always used double sided carpet tape to mount the antenna either to the rear parcel shelf or the dash. Although I do experience some dropouts, they are about the same as those I've experienced with external mounting on metal.

Depending on where you want to put it use double sided tape like they use on side mouldings which would work fine on the exterior paint and not hurt it

I guess the bigger issue is where to mount the antenna. The C4 conv. doesn't provide you with a lot of good spots. So far the best spot i've been able to find is on the lower left corner of the windshield by the insp. sticker, but like Jacque said drop outs are a big problem.

That's a lot of food for thought. Because I'm moving the tuner, power system and antenna between several vehicles and a boat, and also just bringing the radio into the house for docking into my sound system, I've learned how to use velcro for the antenna mounting. Never have mounted the antenna outside of the vehicle....(except on the boat).......always on the dash. Dropouts have not been a real big issue except on narrow roads with a bunch of trees where you don't get a clear shot at the satellites. I do appreciate all of the help........sometimes thinking out loud like this generates an idea or two. Still need to check out those suction mounts I mentioned earlier and think about all this on the way to Becky's tomorrow morning. Hope I get to meet you all up there. By the way.....as of last week my AC system was operating normally (and holding charge) thanks to the help I got from some of you in an earlier posting. Also.......is there a last place award planned for the rally? I'm in! (lol) See you there.....let's keep dry.

Another though for the antenna (used by other on CF - no personal experience on my part) is on the underside of the trunk lid (fiberglass should not effect the signal too much).

Thats what I thought Jacque but I was wrong, I have a sat. recvr. on my back deck, even when a bird lands on it it'll drop out.
